Fuel pump question
Will the fuel pump from an 1986 928S work properly if its installed into a 1980 928S euro? I thought maybe they possibly were the same pump, but maybe not.

Use a proper one for your CIS. It has the longer neck. You may also have a 2nd one at the inlet of the tank (in-tank).

It's not that hard to replace either or both...remember they have gas in them when you take them down...
Be careful when working with parts (petrol/gasoline) and battery or volt generator around. Have you tried checking then cleaning your's -- take them off and put 12v to them then reverse where you put your two leads. Is the pump spining or not in both directions? If you have a jar of petrol then put hoses from pump to jar when testing cleaning.

The in tank pump (if equipped) should be the same for most years BUT the external pump needs higher pressure for the CIS injection system in your 928.

Also FYI, I only changed the external pump on my CIS. I just gutted my internal one since it was not working. My car runs fine although on quick right or left hand turns, it does lean out a little.
Don't drive like your in the Grand Prix and you will be fine.
