heater blower stopped working
i just replaced the dash and pod on my 84s. heater was blowing last night but not this morning, no blow fuses, triedc swapping relays, no luck. connector on dash temp sensor is damaged but i believe it still has a connection. will temp sensor keep blower from working? Wondering if it is as problem related to the dash repklacement or an old car new problem? any suggestions of where to check would help.

See if it works on defrost....if it does then the problem is elsewhere and not the blower itself.

Mine had a poor connection at the blower itself. Wiggled the wires where they went into the blower and wala..... Fixed the poor connection and I have heat..

I suspect your blower motor has gone tits-up. Usually, they make a bunch of really un-good noises before they fail, as mine did. Check all your connections, but I bet your wallet is going to get a little thinner in the near future.
-That blower is a pain in the rear to replace! Dammit. You have to take the hood off [easy], but getting the old blower out and the new blower in is a female dog! I think Porsche welded the cowl around this plastic part, because you can just barely get the thing in place. WYAIT....check the AC evaporator for contamination. I found mine full of crud when I changed out the blower in 2003, and a good cleaning with a garden hose suddenly made my air conditioning noticeably colder. I did the same thing my my other car, a Ford Aerostar, and what looked like a fiberglass filter turned out to be sucked-in dirt and fuzz. The difference in the air conditioner was night and day! N! |

Blower not working
Well, I looked into it a little further and found that my ac control head is not functioning at all, the only thing that comes on is the dash light for it. Seems as if I didnt plug something in somewhere under the dash or something got knocked loose. I was in a hurry when assembling my interior due to limited time and the lighting in my garage is horrible. The control head has both connectors connected correctly. I made sure all the connections under the console were making good contact. I do know everything was plugged in the right places because everything worked the other day, I think it is something that worked loose but I need to know where. The fuse for the heater is good and is reading voltage. I tried swapping blower relays. I guess I will remove console and glove box to see what is underneath. If anyone has any photos that could help I would apprectiate it. Thanks, Bill.

Here's a picture of the cowl area.
The HVAC blower is the rounded thing on the end [passenger side]. There are two arrows; one points to a rubber sleeve that directs air into the HVAC system, and the other points to the speed control resistor for the blower. Pull the connector and check for continuity on this resistor. If you remove the resistor, make sure you tie a string to the prongs because if not it could fall down into the chamber and then it is a PAIN to get back out! Ask me how I know about this one... You might try disconnecting the connector at the blower and try to run 12 volts directly to it to see if it works. Good luck! N ![]() |

Did you by chance uplug or dislocate the ignition switch electrical connector? I just replaced mine and had no blower on defrost, the flaps didn't open or close when warm, nothing. When I got under the dash, removed the plastic plate that hides the switch, I saw the plug was not fully on the new switch. I pushed it hard home and all started working - I haven't pulled the electrical diagram to see what may have been the issue - but heck - it all works fine now! The only thing that did not work was the heat/ac.

well, i found the problem and some new ones too. I was looking through the owners manual and found a seperate fuse for climate control. The fuse was not blown but it did have a light coat of white corrosion on the top of it. I checked the top of the fuse holder with a test light and no juice. Replaced the fuse and everything started working again. Problem is some of the flaps dont work properly. anyone know where to get new ones cheaper than a dealer. By the way thanks for everyones replies. Bill.

Heater Blower not working
Here are some pictures of what I found. There is also a repair that I found which was poorly insulated which could have been even more trouble for me in the future.
