[sorry, long-winded, I am, tonight.]

I'm not interested in selling my car. At least, not right now-

I HAVE had thoughts of acquiring a SILVER GTS or GT for the past year. You see, I'm getting a bit bored with my current S2. It is fast enough, but I want something that just stands out. I take my '85 to car shows, and it usually gets a crowd, but the black paint? Bad idea. I wanted a black VW GTI when I bought my first car in 1984 as an 18 year old kid, and I wanted a black car for years. As soon as I owned one, I realized how difficult it was to keep it clean, and also how the paint basically hid the magnificent lines of the car. I bought the car that I have now because it threw [and I do mean "threw!"] me back into the seat during a tire-shredding test drive in April, 1999. For once, the car ran right and I asked the PO [aka BUTTEATER!!!!] if he'd had the engine modified. It was WAY---! more powerful than the S4 automatic that I'd entertained the previous day, and he told me that it was stock, as far as he knew. AND he had all the receipts

SOLD.

I tried to talk him down, told him the interior was trashed [it was...] but he wouldn't budge. $10,600 later I was the owner of the car from hell. And I do mean hell-

-Back then I was stupid enough to try to join the Porsche Club Of America. This club, at least the Orlando, Florida section "Citrus council" is a club that I want nothing to do with. When I went to ONE meet, I was greeted by nothing other than pure PRETENTION.

You see, since my car only cost me $10,600, I wasn't good enough to hang out with the owners of $75,000 996's. I was actively ignored; I remember looking at the older guys there and they would turn their heads! Listen, I'm not a professional writer, so I cannot adequately describe how I felt there, but I was really uncomfortable. I was excluded because my Porsche wasn't as valuable as theirs! That's stupid. I want you to know that I left that gathering on a Saturday night, and drove to the place where the local VW club hung out. They didn't like the fact that I had sold my '92 VW Corrado SLC for the Porsche V8 that I showed up with- that was the thing they hated the most...although all of them told me that they loved the way it sounded!

That 20-year old VW crowd? They accepted me back in immediately. That Porsche crowd? I would have thrown most of the geezers off of a bridge!

-Something came to my attention at that Porsche Club meeting. One guy walked up to me after looking at my 928 and asked me if I found it in Ocala. I did, and he proceeded to tell me the history of the car. The PO had told me that he thought someone died in the car, but since he was an epic butteater, I discounted everything he said. He was a professor of statistics at Central Florida Community College,so I went through the car the first night I owned it to make sure that he hadn't left any joints or other contraband in the car. I'm serious- I pulled the carpets up the first night to make sure of this sort of thing. This clown was probably stoned when he sold me the thing. I found a bunch of pennies, but nothing else. I'm surprised to this day~

Well, someone did die in the car. The first owner was a jeweler in Ocala, and he went to Vienna, where he was from, to buy a 928 that would destroy his friend's '85 Corvette. That it did, since the corvette has 2/3 the horsepower and weighs more! Anyway this guy drove it for 8 years, then decided to not shut off the engine one day in his garage. He committed suicide in the car, and the maid found him dead in the car the next day, engine still running. It didn't overheat, apparently

"My mechanic was trained in GERMANY" That is what the PROFESSOR of STATISTICS at Central Florida Community College told me~

OK...my mechanic was trained in my garage, since he is ME, and the best mechanics in the world originate in Puerto Rico or Southern California. I didn't say that to this ridiculous crud, but all I wanted was his car; NOT HIM!

========

NOW. To get back to the issue, I am NOT putting my '85 S2 into play. I wouldn't mind testing the waters, but right now, unless I get a screaming good deal on a silver 5 speed GTS or GT, then I'm not interested. Of course, every person and every car has their price.

N!
