1989 S4 rear console question

How do you remove the rear center console upper. The upper has the vents loaded in it. Just pull off due to hiden clips or what??
Thanks

there are two screws located on the curved section of the plastic vent, once you pop the vents off there are two more screws just in front of the blower.

to remove the rear console do this open the hatch lift the carpet.
Then looking at the back side of the console vent you will see 2 screws in the back of the grate (near the velcro that holds down the carpet) Remove these.
Then lift the rear edge of the grate at about 45degrees then you can pull this to the rear of the car, it has 2 metal hooks, in the font edge.
Then next to where the 2 metal hooks went look for 2 more screw holes, they might be covered with the console material but they are there remove these.
(Warning dont try to remove the front grate it stays with the top cover of the console)
Then lift the whole top portion of the console from the rear towards the front at about 45 degrees this should disengage the front metal hook pull to the rear.
Now there are 4 metal bars that are secured with 1self tapping screw each, to metal bars that are on the side of the black sides of the evaporator .
Remove these 4 screws ( the top ones only) then carefully pull the outer bars away from the inner bars along the plastic while pulling upwards ,
you may have to walk this off once you get the bars and the lower screws past the black evaporator housing the cover should come free lifting straight upwards.
Note the console may be glued to the lower portions of the rear seats if so pull the seat away from the console before you begin to lift.
