928 Inspection.........FAIL

NIX here, did some checking this morning and it doesnt look good. Major oil leak, the oil on the ground looks like clean fresh oil. The problem is it appears to be comming from splits in the upper and lower radiator hoses. The coolant in the overflow looks like good coolant and the engine temp is fine so I'm at a loss. Heres some pics.

Please tell me this is good news in some strange 928 way............NIX

If it looks like it's coming from those splits, then it probably is. The good news is that you can get a god used set from 928 Intl. I had to do this on mine since the PO had jimmy rigged the coolant set up with a Corvette Radiator. I put it all back to stock and zero leaks and overheating. To be sure, clean that area and all hoses really well and see where it's coming from specifically.

you also have other problems the starter is in the the wrong position, it needs to be unbolted then turned so the bolts go in the opposite holes this will put the solenoid to the underside of the oil pan,
Disconnect the battery first.
The leaking lines will be fun remove the oil cooler lines from the radiator, counterhold the rad fittings (27mm) so the cooler lines fittings (32mm) can come loose.

On the engine side remove the oil filter and the alternator (just hang it from a coat hanger wire) then remove the lower line first then the upper line make sure to hold the fitting in the block from turning only move the collar nut otherwise you damage the block.
Take the lines to a hose shop and have new hi pressure oil lines crimped on SB about 80.00 to do.
I would stay away from used lines
To see if a used line is good try spinning the end while holding the crimp if it spins then it will leak.
Also check the PS lines.
and clean off all of the oil on any rubber parts so they wont get soft and fail

remove the wires from the starter then remove the bolts that hold it on the twist it so the solenoid is sitting under the oil pan.
there are only 2 ways for it to fit and this isnt the correct way.
After the starter is turned around then you reconnect the wires, they will run in front of the starter then make sure the hot lead,( The fat wire ) isnt touching the oil pan, make sure to mark where the small wires comes off of so you put it back in the correct spot.
Disconnect the battery before working on any elex system on the 928

here is a picture of the starter installed correctly note the wire routing and also make sure the wires are not rubbing on the sway bar it moves and will wear into the wire harness
