Need prices for 86.5 5 speed LSD cars

The insurance is valuing my car at 6200. They deducted some for the missing interior parts. They are also deducting the 2400$ they paid me because about two days after I put it in, my double DIN Kenwood navigation unit was stolen. They tore up some interior stuff getting it out and I got 2400. Leaves me with about 3700$. I have been offered 3000 for mine as it sits. but I'm not sure if that takes into account that I want the wheels and the strut brace and the belt tensioner and the rear muffler eliminator and the steering wheel. I would have to ship the car there. about 700$. Leaves me with 6000$$$ I can buy another car for that but probably not equal to what I had.

So, there's the numbers. I didn't accept and talked to her manager, this is what he wants me to do. Find cars with the options mine had that are priced higher than what they offered me. Can you guys help? I'll do as much hunting as I can but please, look in the paper, Internet, your neighbors back yard.... lol Please post examples on this thread of cars over 70,000 miles that are priced over that amount if you know of any. Thanks

Also my other and probably more favorable option is..... Does anybody have a good 86.5 chassis for sale cheap? Mason sold me such a good car I'd be happy to keep the parts I have and swap them to a good chassis. I really got a good deal I think.

PS. my car has the following.
86.5 5 Speed LSD
Oz Racing wheels (may be forged)
aftermarket strut brace
custom exhaust
Chips
Porkentensioner
a really solid drive-train (especially the trans)
H4 bulbs
fitipaldi steering wheel
K&N air filter

Porsche : 928 : eBay Motors (item 180472045228 end time Feb-27-10 13:11:56 PST)

cars.com, autotrader

Something to educate the insurance people on is that pricing is primarily a factor of model year, condition, and manual vs automatic, with options having only a small effect on prices.

Be prepared with as much information to make your case as possible as you work your way up the food chain. Their numbers reflect Craig's List prices and not true replacement costs.

I found about twentyfive in the eight to ten thousand range on eBay and craigslist. Hopefully this affects the price

This ebay link that Mike posted, keep in mind, is a very nice example. Low mileage, well documented car, clean in and out, it's going to be worth/pull a nice premium.

How many miles are on Iris anyway?? (sniff sniff, poor girl)

Carl I have an 86.5 here we are taking apart-it's on the lift now. You can have the chassis for free- just pay the transport cost.

I got it with 105 on it.... I installed a 180mph S4 speedo that says 55k.... I drove it less than 5k... so it should be under 110k miles on it. Gnarly runner- sad event that crash.

Chassis Exchange -

Hey Vdubr928 – The process of swapping out the remaining usable parts from your damaged vehicle into the correct year chassis will be a great solution to a tough predicament. A few years back I towed a borrowed flatbed trailer from Montana to Colorado to retrieve an old car body for a similar situation. Let me tell you - a low slung 928 is no match for a cow standing sideways in the middle of a dark country road. Luckily I swerved just quick enough to only have the head hit the top of my windshield before taking out 30 yards of fence posts. To make matters worse, the insurance adjuster who totaled my car wasn’t even sure who made Porsche and in Montana – the owner of the cow is not at fault if all the gates are closed. Although this restoration effort turned into a lot of grunt work, it was a real labor of love and even now I think this was one of my favorite projects.

Good Luck,
Michael

Think I'm in on that one. I'll need front end, radiator, fenders, hood, headlight bar, both healight ass, one h4 lens, headlight motor, condenser (and electric fan), radiator, the fan braket where the throttle linkage mounts and probably a fan just to be safe. Oh and bumper support, I may have a good light or two in mine, ill let you know in an email. She took one pretty hard. worse on the left side but everything got pushed back and left. Also still need some back seats and such. PM me a price. Your awsome man!! That car ran so strong and tight. I't would be a shame not to put that drive-train back on the road. What color is the car and how soon can it ship?

I've done more than a few conversions. Mostly Mercedes stuff and the great thing with them is they are, for the most part, max wired and all the mounting points for the diffrerent powertrain options are on every body. Easy to swap a 4 for a 6 or an auto for a stick. Most trouble you might have is radiator fitment.

I was so happy with the performance of the car. I can do TT bearings and clutch while I have it out and do the dash and whatever else when I do the swap. I was planning on taking the car apart anyway. This just sped things up some. Huge weight lifted here. I don't have to worry about the numbers so much now. Mason has done nothing but help me since I bought old red.

Mason, can you get me a decent price on those TT bearings and Clutch? Send me an email or something.

Some bad pics. I'll post more as I taker it apart. Guess I can move on this and start stripping the car. I'm really glad. This is the easiest and cheapest way.

Sorry I don't know how to post pics. Lol

I can always use an extra pair of hands. Even if you just stand there and drink beer your welcome to swing by and see what I ha e and introduce yourself. We can compare notes. Let me figure out where I want to do this. My garage is not ideal for this much work. Might. Use my dads. But lets hook up. 719-694-6237

Names Carl and my tools are always ready. Give me a shout.

I wish I was closer- I'd be in for some charitable wrench spinning.

The car is 85% complete, and should be done by Tues... can't really spend any time on this with you until then, so start taking the car apart- and keep the nuts and bolts organized by their function. Price for the rest of the stuff you asked for is marginal, and interior stuff is non issue cost wise. I will put it all in the shell and shrink wrap it
