I did the swap on my 80 Euro.

you should use everything (front end parts) from the S4. They are interchangeable.

on the rear, you will only need a large flat washer to properly space the calipers in relation to the rotors.

I suggest installing stainless braided lines at the same time, as well as a complete fluid flush and replacement.

Yeah, what Russ said is correct. If you can pull the entire front S4 suspension it will save you the trouble of sourcing early spindles and using spacers. The rear rotors bolt up but the dust shield will need to be trimmed or removed. The calipers will need to be spaced out a little to fit. Some thin washers work well for this.

Yes, the whole assembly.

you need not swap the spring/shocks unless your early car doesn't have the height adjustable shocks--if not, you might install the height adjustables (S4 will have these).

You must swap the A-arms, hubs and spindles at the very least, because the early cars used aluminum ball joints. These can be weak and are not advised for use on any track car. To use the big black (Brembo 4-piston) brakes on an early car, you must do the entire parts swap or purchase the brake caliper adapters (available from the big three suppliers).

It's just easier to do the swap of the entire assembly from a donor S4.

for the swap you MUST use

Front upper and lower A-arms,
Hub/spindle
rotor, caliper.

I would recommend that you use the S4 shock/spring setup as it has adjustability that the early cars did not have.

On the rears you need a 5mm washer for a spacer to hold the caliper in the correct location other than that everything will just bolt up on the rear.

With regards to a comment about the aluminum ball joints.
If your car has aluminum ball joints, you MUST REPLACE THEM IMMEDIATELY!!!!!
Do not wait to replace them or think they are fine they can be fine one moment and pull apart the next. And do NOT think that they are fine for street driving because they aren't.

I looked at the Caliper Adapters on 928 Intl (none on Pelican) and they are expensive ($195) Part # 928 351 999 98

Can they be had cheaper anywhere else? Also, I see you also have to replace the Rotor to a 993 Rotor. Is this it?

I was looking at the Porsche 993 Front Rotors and they are expensive. Are other models similar in size and bolt pattern? I was kinda wondering why i need to use specifically 993 rotors with the Adapters. Anyone?

(crickets chirping)

I guess I' ask again. How come 993 Rotors have to be used when you use the Adapters? How come S4 Rotors can't be used?
