sunroof gears
I got my sunroof switch to work, and my motor works too. that's the good news. but the motor is spinning and the sunroof isn't opening. (the screw to open the sunroof manually isn't spinning with the motor running).
Do I need to get a new one of these (pic below) or is there a way to open this up and replace the gears that I'm assuming is stripped inside? ![]()

It looks like you can pop that cover off with a screwdriver. I would do that before buying another one. Price out a good used one from 928 Intl.

track crap could be stopping it from moving to grease the motor well so you get full strength out of the motor maybe it will still pull itself through the dirt debri and old/ to no grease left on it. clean and relube so it can guide itself along track easier, and the motor isnt struggling.

After I cleaned mine and reinstalled it, I used the screw on the other side to adjust it. I could loosen the screw and the sunroof motor would turn but not the sunroof transmission. I could then turn it clockwise and the sunroof transmission would move the sunroof. If you get it open, make sure you clean and lightly grease the tracks. The sunroof motor and transmission are not especially heavy duty.
