various questions

Hi guys, I have a few questions regarding my 82 porsche 928s that I just thought I would ask to see if anyone else has had the same problem,

1) when I hook up my battery there is no lights on in the car, as soon as I turn the key over and turn it off the tailight and the side marker light and the front marker light will stay lit and eventually drain the battery. When I turn the ignition on and try and start the car the light will go out but as soon as I turn the key back and take the key out it will stay lit. this does seemt o be an intermittent problem though, It doesn't happen all the time but most of the time.

2) my tilt steering doesn't work, I can pull the handle out but it doesn't move at all. Is there supposed to be resistance there when you pull the handle back or does it free float and when you close it does it tighten something. Mine free floats.

3) I have looked through all of the threads regarding vacuum hoses because I want to replace mine. I need to know the sizes and rough lengths of each,

4) is there a way to check that my green wire is still good, is there voltage that is supposed to be powered there when key is on and if so where do I check these points at.

Your issue #1. The lights you refer to will stay on after you remove the key IF the directional indic ator switch is in the down ( left) or up (right) position. Make sure the switch is in the center before you turn off and the lights should go out.
#2 - the lever in the up position ( towards you) locks the tilt, in the down it is unlocked, then grab the wheel and move it up and down. If it doesn't move fairly freely don't force it, there may be a cable under there hanging up. Remove the cover plates under the console and check.
#3 - Contact Roger at 928srus, he will fix you up
#4 not sure on the green wire, never had a problem with it! Someone will chime in i'm sure.

Good luck
Neil

vac hoses mpdano= 10ft 3mm 5ft 6mm 2ft 10mm
danglerb bought kit vac hose kit roger is at whats the store?
theres carl at whats the store?
you can take one each size off go to napa.... with it 3sizes (1/8,3/16/1/2 think are sizes)

there is a bit of resistance when the handle for steering wheel is pulled. i believe the whole pod moves with it maybe hasnt moved in a while so stiff. Could be back or sides of the pod catching , put both hands on side of pod and try easy rockying, the back (tap on it)could be stuck/sticky against dash push/pull steering . Careful that no one moved or added something in the way of it being able to move freely.

Greenwire plugs at pass side connector, a test, Volts ? -- if your cars starting prob not greenwire

lights? mrmerlin walk you through best.
theres a connector above battery box under a plastic rectangle, cylinders each back side of quarter panels , housing themselves , fuses/relays , bottom of master cylinder(drivers side eng) two switches, tapping your break pedal once after cars running shuts off light maybe your pedal sticky. The bulbs in the taillights all have to be same resistance on both sides (replace) if one set is drawing more than another they wont work right. Front lights front fender wells (need wheels off/panel removed) THERE ARE GROUNDS IN THESE AREAS TOO A MUST TO CLEAN.
