Fuel regulator

I've put on my second fuel pressure regulator, car won't start. When I put old regulator back on car fires right up. Does the new regulator need priming with fuel before attaching to lines? Any help would much appreciated! Thank you, jrudy

Why are you replacing a good part?

I'm experiencing hesitation during acceleration 700rpm to about 3k rpm. I've replaced plugs, dist cap etc. After reading all the fine threads concerning my issue... I believe I've placed a regulator where the dampener goes (in front). I would appreciate any trouble shooting ideas for hesitation/jerky motion?
Thank you all for your knowledge!

I wonder if you've got a massive vacuum leak that only comes into play in that range?

Have you replaced your transmission fluid lately?

No I haven't replaced transmission fluid in awhile. That's a thought, but vacuum leak really sounds possible. If you have any other ideals, I'm listening!
Thank you

I'm listening too as I have the same issue. I've tried it all. I have CIS though.

Have you guys checked out those wide-band stoich meters yet? If you can hook one up, and watch it while the car's running wrongly, I'd guess that if the reading goes lean during the stumbling, then you've got a huge vacuum leak.

Seems like vacuum and air flow cause much more headaches than good old fuel flow.

If the AFM is going, it usually will stumble only at cruisng RPMs. Sometimes the green wire to the distributor will deteriorate, and it can cause stumbles before it fails. You could also find that a dose of Techron, or Berryman fuel injector cleaner will clear a stumble.

Keep in mind that I am not a mechanic, just a monkey with wrenches.

I had a hesitation problem that was cured when I found the vacuum advance was not properly connected to the throttle body.
