Interior Make-Over...

Spring is here, whatta winter, whew...

Anyway, got the car out and back into life, new battery, fluids, etc. Running excellent. Hershey swap meet coming up, hope to have her there. Anyway, I have been working on the interior for a bit now, and just about done. I have fully swapped out all of the old and tired OEM black leather to a Cashmere Tan, love it. The entire rear section I got from a late model S4, including the seat belt side panels, etc. The front seats are from a 911/993, not the 928 seat but really like them, very comfortable and got them for a heck of a deal. (Thx Fred!!!!) Replaced the center console old carpeted lid with a mint leather one (Thx Mason!!) and changed out the MoMo leather shift knob for a stainless knob with Porsche crest, interior is coming together nicely.

I am still locking down a set of Cashmere door card inserts, and that should do it. I am going to have the rear console lid recovered, but black with that. Also shopping for a new custom steering wheel...

Check out some before and after pics, Loving it!!!!!

Nice.

How was the fitment of the S4 rear seats into the OB rear body?
They look perfect from the pictures.
I thought the S4 seat was more narrow.

Thx for the compliments guys, I am thrilled with it. I was not planning on doing the whole door panel just the card insert around the handle, the removable pop out part of the panel.

The fitment was perfect, did not seem any smaller than the OB. The only thing that needed to be tended too was the support bar on the inside mount, the OB has a solid bar that goes into a port on the console, where the S4 has a hinge that can either be custom mounted to the floor or removed and a spring loaded bar can be inserted to act as a inside lower support hinge, either way they fit as nice as the pics show, love it!!!

That's pretty sharp dude!

Something to keep in mind is that a decent interior shop can re-tan all of the interior the color you want, and it will hold up just as well as the original tanning. And it won't be all that expensive either. Keep at it- make sure you post more pics.

Thx Normy. I tossed the idea around of having the OEM stuff recovered, do it all cashmere, etc. Big $$$ to have it all done, and I really am NOT a huge fan of the OB front seats, etc. So, I started looking into available S4 stuff in Cashmere, that would not have me drain my 401K to purchase. Found a whole rear S4 tan seat set WAY cheap on Fee-Bay, grabbed that. Searched and searched for nice clean S4 cashmere fronts, not so lucky. Found one set but seller wanted $1200 and would not budge. Mason was looking around for me but no luck yet on clean fronts at an affordable price. So, I stumbled across these 911/993 fronts which, ironically, were already previously fitted to an OB 928 so had the power seat plugs all ready converted for the car, etc. And you could NOT beat the price I got on those, so figured they would work, just fine.
Dropped um in and done, mounted right up to the 928 rails, no probs...

Very happy overall with the interior now, such a difference.

Amazing transformation. You did a great job! I wish my '84's interior looked as nice. I'm going to Hershey, let's hook up then. Love to see it in person. Peace!

Looks super. Definitely do the door cards. I have a magazine where the interior is exactly what your doing with the cashmere door cards. It makes the doors really stand out. And yes I got your wheel spacers. Thanks much.
