Horn location?

Ok, I found the alarm horn but where are the main horns? Mine seem very weak, probably from sitting a long time. I need to check them out.

Ok, I will look again. Mine quit working although the relay clicks. When they do work it sounds like a bicycle horn some kid would have on his little 3 wheeler!

Is it located possibly on the drivers fender under the head light? Maybe accessed by removing the wheel and a fender panel on the front of the wheel well. I could barely see in there from the front under neath.

Yes.

How did you find the alarm horns? They are pretty well hidden.

If it's aftermarket, then this would depend on the installer. I have an alarm horn right under the front bumper. Very easy to disable if need be by a crook. In another post, I had the alarm box actually fall under my brake pedal while I was driving. Most Alarm Installers aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. At least in my experience.

I thought the alarm horn was on the fire wall by wipers, if I read the shop manual correctly?

I am looking for the driving horns, so if some jerk cuts me off I can sound the horns big time!

Good luck if your expecting loud truck horns. The European Horns sound like a Rat being stepped on.

I have the factory alarm in mine, but where are the driving horns? I think up behind that left head light, hard to get to except maybe through the wheel well via access panel. I am not sure, can't really see in there except from through the grill below. Something looks like a horn but not sure.

the horns are under the front of right fender,
remove the wheel then the fender liner if it has one then the front block off plate
The alarm horn is under the windshield cowl on the right of the blower motor as sitting in the car

Thanks Stan,

I think I might just do it after I check out the stock ones and find out why they are intermittent.

While your in there, its a decent time to address the windshield and headlight washer unit in the rear of the front fender.

They are indeed in the front drivers side fender under the headlight as first noted... but only if you have a RHD car...

I second the idea of better horns - my stock horns sounded like an apology rather than a warning....

Alan, now I am confused, someone said they were under the "right" passenger side. Mine is a US car normal placement of steering wheel. If they were working I could have someone blow the tweeky things and see, but unfortunately they are not working, except relay clicks. They did send out a puny sounds a few times, not enough to scare a church mouse!

Err - now lets think about this one....

RHD = Right Hand Drive... as is usual in Glasgow Scotland

So the drivers side fender is...

stock horns should be located in front of the right front wheel. As far as I can tell from the parts catalog (and from both my cars), two separate horns are factory mounted. Part. nr. 911 635 101 20 (fanfare high pitch) and 911 635 101 00 (fanfare low pitch).
I found another horn in front of the left wheel as well, but this turned out to be an aftermarket installation - and a really crappy wirering job at that,
