muffler question

hey guys, I have a question regarding a muffler for the car, I have an 82 928 with single exhaust, I am missing the muffler. I was looking around at the local shops to see what they had, I looked at a cherry bomb muffler with 2.25 inlet and 2.25 outlet, can I install this onto the car or will it be too much back pressure. the next size was 2.5 by 2.5. I was looking at those exhausts because they are the tube design and would go in place pretty good with only a 45 degree. I do have a muffler that came with the car that has a 2.5 inch inlet and dual tip outlet. It would look good on the car but I think it was meant to come straight out of the back of the car and not on an angle. let me know what you guys think, Thnks

I would not go smaller then the pipe if i could help it. You also want the muffler to slide on the outside of the pipe. If the muffler or bottle is straight through, as long as the exit is the same size or bigger then the front thats all that matters.

Yes, i believe it's 2-1/2 in and out. 2-1/2 piping all the way.

I thought for some reason the size of the pipe on the car is 3 inches.

if stock is 2 1/2 then can I go with a 2 1/4 cherry bomb muffler or will that cause back pressure too. the length of the pipe is only 18 inches.

I like magnaflow, single chamber is very high flow, kinda loud, dual chamber less loud still pretty high flow. Glass packs, weird mufflers, some loud, some not so loud, none flow like a flowmaster.

Chris, your homework is to read this post 10 times, then read it again 10 times

I copied Dano's set-up and it sounds gnarly with the bigger Euro engine, which you have (it's a "true" S right?).

I did, months back, on YouTube. It was not that great sounding though because I had not backed the 928 out of the garage. I will have to do it again after I get the WUR calibrated and the timing set- it pops and crackles right now.
