Found another rotten wire today (pics).

Decided to take a good look at the 14-pin connector and the power wires at the jump post today. Found something disturbing.

The main power lead from the alt to the jump post had a huge cut in the insulation and gobs of corrosion.

Cut back the insulation about ten inches, splayed out the strands, cleaned 'em up with WD-40, clipped the terminal, installed new terminal, wrapped up the harness and power lead with elastic electrical tape and then a layer of self-vulcanizing tape, reinstalled, voltage reading keeps going up and becoming more stable as I screw with this car.

order one from a 1988 you may have to swap out your smaller stud cap for a threaded cap then drill a hole into the end of the stud and JB weld a threaded stud for the new cap to screw onto

I've got a hot post cover. Installed it after I took the pics.

I'm surprised I haven't had any trouble from that exposed power wire. It was very close to the fuselage, and being un-fused, it could've wreaked havoc or a fire.
