I would like to get my seats re covered in my 84, How much? I like the fabric inserts on the seats you have pictured.
|
I am not ready to take orders yet...still need a little more practice. As soon as I am done painting my son's 1980 I will be recovering his dash and pod as well. I hope to have pics when I am done....a few weeks. Also will be looking at different materials and sources so pricing is still a ways off.
Keep in mind I am not trying to be in competition with Rob or Paul...I am looking to fill a large gap with covers that will be acceptable but most likely not perfect. I don't see putting $2000 seats in a $5000 car as cost effective for folks like me. I also don't want to buy the ill fitting sleeves for $200 that look bad and don't match the rear seats. Just trying to find a way to fill a gap. After doing my first set I can tell you there is a lot of labor in all areas...sewing, layout, installing. I will be looking for ways to have our cake and eat it too. |
One BIG step closer to getting this rolling. I found a GREAT machine on Craigslist. Not much longer and I will be a seat covering machine. This bad boy will handle leather as well with no problem. I was VERY fortunate as I found this for $400 complete.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1279221363.jpg

WOW.... Dean, Great work..It sounds like you may have a few orders coming !!!

Dean,
If you ever want to work on other interior parts/leather or vinyl, I'll be glad to strip some off my 86. It needs some help on the interior department and we come over to Columbus often. My wife is there this weekend visiting family. Let me know. Glad to hear your working on some cool stuff! John |
Good to hear from you John...next trip lets meet somewhere. Give me a call. 865-696-8422

I want to send out a very public THANK YOU to Jim and Bari DuBois in Magnolia Texas! They were kind enough to donate a good bit of "Dogbert" to my new interior upholstery practice. Almost an entire interior minus the back seats and visors. It does my heart good to still see good people in this world. Here is a pic of the load and the cab is full too. The front seats are inside the 2 boxes.
THANKS again to Jim and Bari. Super good folks.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1280778117.jpg |
Wow, someone donated a truck too ;)
Now let's see some of that sewing machine smoke! You'll do well as you have talent. Don't give it up. |
Dean, it was a pleasure to meet you. Glad to see Dogbert's parts will be of assistance to you....as you can see from the condition of some of the panels it is a shame that the PO did not own or use tools other than big prybars and maybe a hammer! But, that is how some parts cars become parts cars.....I am looking forward to seeing your work on recovering the seats and panels...
