Parting out 81 928
It appears as if the best remaining option on my 81 parts car (US 5 speed) is to part it out. The engine is destroyed, looks like last "mechanic" left a nut/bolt in the intake which dinged up a piston, a head, and cracked the cylinder sleeve. The motor is pretty much disassembled to a short block stage so I thought I would offer up any remaining parts to fellow sufferers, I mean fellow enthusiasts. The cams look good, as do lifters, I have not pulled the bottom end to check the crank or rods, they may or may not be useful to someone. All the accessories are removed and not available right now. The water pump was fairly recent.......as was the timing belt etc....
Cam housings are good, one head is good, the other could be used with some "ding" removal on one cylinder. All the valves are decent etc..... this car showed 81k miles on the odometer, which was not working....but overall there is very little wear showing in many places. Oil pan has been cracked and has a JB Weld repair....better than no oil pan I guess..... Here is the deal: Anything still remaining of this engine I will give to anyone who is willing to pay shipping from 77354. But, you need to be quick to let me know your wants as I am going to scrap what ever is left Monday of next week.....or if you are around here pick up would be even better.... I will post the other parts of the car that I will not need later. The interior, brown leather, was pretty bad, some decent parts will be available, the exterior paint was terrible, passenger fender good, hood good, both doors good, all glass good, rust on rear hatch lip, rust under rear quarter windows poorly repaired. If someone wants the "tub" and wants to pick it up that would be free also, suspension and driveline commited to another projecty right now as are rims etc....electronics I will attempt to test before selling, the fuse and relay panel is available...etc etc.....clutches and pressure plate were replaced fairly recently and may be available. PM me if you want more information or email me...thanks to all and sorry to not save this one....too far gone... |

Things worth saving list, maybe not worth shipping too far though.
![]() Cams are dandy as cores to weld, best way to store them is in the cam carrier with the lifters. All the nuts and bolts, pulleys, dampener, brackets etc. Intake and all related parts of fuel injection. |
