Engine heat blasting into compartment via shifter: cured.

Well, .....90% cured.

I no longer have a constant blast of searing engine heat blowing out of my center console onto my legs and into the cockpit.

Now I just have slight heat up through the shifter that heats up the switches, and that's it.

I bought some spray foam by DAP and sprayed it up over the torque tube in front of the foam piece. I loaded a good bit up in there left, front, right sides.

I'm going to give it one more dose to try to finish off that last 10% of heat invasion.

I'm also going to wrap the downpipes and cat with titanium heat wrap from DEI. I would wrap the headers, but there is no clearance to get up in there.

I'm sick of this heat invasion! It was so much better as I cruised down the road today in this 92F heat with 100% humidity.

Sounds like you fix things kind of like I do. Whatever you can find around that may possibly work. A lot of guys just buy new stuff but I have to try and repair most things due to lack of money. Sometimes I just rummage through stuff in the garage looking for an idea on what would work to repair something. I go through a lot of epoxy and Gorilla Glue. Gunar

Where do you plan on mounting it? I got one last week, but due to its size the best place I could find was on the passenger floor next to the sill between the brains and the download port. Not quite readily accessable from the drivers seat, but if I needed it, I'm sure I could grab it!

Gunar, yep, I like to work with what I've got if I can. Black trim RTV has worked wonders for ill-fitting trim seals. Gorilla duct tape kicks ass. Silicon tape is magical.

Welp, the heat returned last night. I guess the foam couldn't resist the overwhelming blast of engine heat, and wilted into nothing. I'll check tomorrow to see what condition the foam is in now.

I have some orange fire resistant foam- TOUCH N FOAM- FIRE BREAK- FLAME RESISTANT SEALANT. I think I got it at Home Depot. Gunar

Is the oil pan at a level such that it is slightly below the crossmember cover that covers the steering rack? How about a picture.

I can't believe you don't need motor mounts. Motor mounts will lift the TT into a closer proximity with the tunnel. Combined with a new foam chunk it can stop the heat.

Out for a ride today with the sunroof closed: no heat. Sunroof open: some heat.

Before the foam: loads of heat no matter what.

Maybe the foam didn't collapse as much as I thought. Still going to apply another dose, then start looking at fixing it the right way. Cash flow problems right now.

ive used the wrap on my motorcycle headers, only prob was over time exhaust got hot, then sat and got cold, you do that and when it cooled down, the wrap held the exhaust sweat(moisture) then came "brotha rust spots", just my 1 cents

I've read about this lately. DEI claims their titanium wrap resists invasion of contaminants and moisture.

Very interested in this foam. here we have 100+ degrees with 100% humidity and the overwhelming heat that blows in is horrible. no a/c so i open up sun roof and windows.
Where is this "foam" from? hardware store?

I thought a lot about this and decided that it was best closest to me on the drivers side.

I tie strapped the bracket to the child seat bracket that is a few inches under the front of the rear seat

Firefighter, you can get the fire resistant foam at Home Depot. Ask for it, it's hard to locate. Good stuff.
