intermittant drivers window
the other day i put the window down a few inches on my 1985 928s US version.
When I pulled in the driveway it would not go up. The passenger window was working fine. It was night and raining (of course) so I had to cover it with a garbage bag to deal with in the am. The next day while getting ready to look at the fuses and relays, it went up on 's own with the switch. I should state that I recently replaced the switch. Today it has done it again. any suggestions? |

you need to take the door apart and remove the window motor and the window arm.
clean out the lever arm pivot and lubricate it. Take the motor apart and clean and lubricate it. then put the window innards back together use strong tape to hold the window in the up position while you work on the window lift arm. The reason your burning up switches is due to the window drawing too much current since it has to overcome the stiction of the linkages

I had a similar problem, when door was open it would not work, close door and it worked, it was a broken wire where it goes through the door jam.

Driver's Window Switch - 84 Porsche 928
Don't forget to check the window switch itself and the electrical plug connector at the opposite end of the switch. The connector is located under the rectangular panel along each side of the console up near your feet. I took my driver's side window switch apart to clean the rocker contacts a couple of times before finally installing a new one. In my case the original switch would work fine after a cleaning for a while but then the intermittent problem would return. After the new switch, the window would not move again - this turned out to be a self inflicted loose wire in the connector plug. Although my drivers window channels could use replacement and the window motors a cleaning - I've had no further issues.

Same problem here, but mine would not go down, ended up being the 4 pin plug behind the center console carpet driver side, one pin came out somehow.
