1981 928 Track Car For Sale
After three years of professional work and a small fortune my 1981 928 track car is for sale. It is sorted, stable, and rewarding to drive. Fully gutted and light weight, no cage, and minimal engine mods. Ideal for track days and DE. Good platform to develop into a full race version. Driven at TWS and MSR in Texas. Would like $6000.

1981 Track Car
The car has been registered in FL for the past year but probably would not pass if stopped by an officer of the law! I trailer it to events so that I can always get it home.
Mark Robinson did the initial work, including re-sealing the engine which is completely oil-tight. See my "Garage" for pics, plus one attached hereto. ![]() |

wow, paint looks fantastic! Good job Robin!
Yes, very light car: I remember it was 2720-ish lbs with the 18's on it.

Car looks great...just looked back at the first post (because 2720 is quite light) and no cage. My race car is just shy of 2700# with a hell of a cage but all kinds of mods for me to be able to drive it not to mention the auto trans and the extra 100# or so that adds...
This car reminds me of Garrett's car. He had a nice S that he lightened to the max and got it down to about the same weight. No cage (or roll bar) and he still had it fully registered for the road. He could rip that car around TWS pretty well! I road with him one session just to observe (as he did not need any instruction at all) and it was well set up! If someone was looking for a great DE car this WOULD BE IT!!! Fast, fun, inexpensive, but still looking and driving well! |

What a great sound that car has too: does it still have the semi-lightweight exhaust on it Robin??

Mark, same exhaust, sounds even better since we replaced all the electrics and fuel injection components and got a few more smoother revs from the engine. Absent a power curve I shift at 5500rpm and the engine seems happy. It has run all season with no problems. The clutch, however, is impossible to keep working. We replaced all the internals plus both cylinders and just cannot keep pressure for more than a week. Even replaced the rubber hoses with custom stainless braid tubes. Having read the recent posts here we are going to measure the MC piston length and try bleeding in the car.
Any additional advice will be most welcome. Took about another 350 lbs out the interior, including putting Lexan in the hatch. ![]() |

That "IS" is a real nice track car. Actually "TOO" nice. But I guess if your always in front, you don't have to worry about the small pebbles being flung on that beautiful paint job

On my monitor it looks black, but didn't you say it is actually dark blue? Love that color... Wonder what is up w/ the clutch...plenty of folks here to help I am sure. GLWS! I think it will be a great choice for someone who wants an inexpensive track car they can have fun with and be proud of!
