Autothority vs. Porken chips

I re-chipped the '86.5 928 automatic with both Autothority chips and, frankly, find no performance improvement. The old girl is still lethargic up to 30 mph and then she condescends to pick up her skirts and hustle. But not noticeably better than before. At the same time we gave her new plugs, wires, coils, and a rotor. Timing is per the manual. The filters are KB and clean.
Any advice about investing in Porken chips? Any advice about off-the-line acceleration? Could something be being lost in the transmission?

Thanks. Where can I get a set? I can't find a web site. And, do I need to upgrade the '86.5 fuel regulator?

AA chips were questionable back in 86, and not improved since. Porken has improved on them.

AT chips were crudely done back in '91. Some extra fuel at about 3/4 load, and more advance in some places at part throttle. The WOT maps were unchanged. IE. at full throttle they are completely stock! (The rev limit is also stock at 6380.)

All '85-'86 eBay chips are copies of AutoThority, their 'copyright' notice is still in the code.

I put Porken's ignition chip in my 928, and I have to say that it has cost me money.

-I can't keep a set of tires on this car anymore! LOL! Ken's chip made a definite difference. Around town the car is "snappier". It is a 1985 928S2, and has big-valve heads and longer duration cams than the typical '85 928, and prior to the chip it felt weak until 3000 rpm. The chip makes the car peppier at low rpms and non-full throttle operation. Just driving around town, it makes the car feel more powerful. The only downside is that you now HAVE to put premium in the tank, because the chip advances the timing as far as can be gotten away with without burned pistons.

I haven't run on a dragstrip in a decade, but I bet this chip adds a mph. The car FEELS faster- but make sure you put the best gas you can find in the tank.
