intake more air
For those of you who need more intake air, check this out. A beautiful idea, and it seems logical. The two intake pipes end at the radiator and take air from the area in front of the rad (this is has to be limited intake). now I don't know the hood pressure area foot print of this particular area, but it seems to me that it would be positive pressure wouldn't you think?
this is not an easy mod but it suits the car. I have to admit that I took this form another 928 fanatic and modified it a bit (the original didn't have the asthetics for my liking) but it sure looks good, reminds me of the '65 Ferrari GTO |

The trick is cool pressurized air, and some does exist in front of the windshield, but you need to either mod the hood with a reverse scoop, or cut the top of the firewall. I've seen a few track cars with the firewall cut, but its not trivial to come up with a seal to keep out the hot air and also accommodate the movement of the engine. Its a LOT louder, so may only be suitable on a track car.
A bunch of people are working on intake systems, and mods to the current system, but no clear winner yet. Plenty have looked great, and done squat on the dyno. |
