Help needed identifying part...?

Leo and others here have inspired me to work on my car more often. So today added transmission fluid, and changed the oil and oil filter... While I was just cleaning up the engine bay I noticed that there is a metal tube behind the block with a blue cover on it--- I have no idea what this is...

Any ideas...?

this is an exhaust sample tube used to set the fuel injection system when the car was new, they can usually rot through about 18 inshes down from the blue cap if that happens then you will have a small EX leak.
you can remove the cap nut that holds the tube in and put a ball bearing in then use the cap to hold it.

solved...

Thanks for the quick response.....,

I'll probably leave it for now, as I have plenty of other items that need to done...the highest priorities right now are:

i- transmission swap (waiting for an open weekend or two for this)
ii- gas tank removal, identify overflow leave culprit, replace parts, etc..
iii- identify the minor engine oil leak (this will take some time)
