Black Pod with brown interior

I have a 80 Euro with a green plaid/brown interior. The door panels are a mixture of brown leather(?) and puke green carpet. It's difficult to determine the actual color of the carpet - it's either tan or faded puke green. The dash and center console are brown but the pod is black. Is the pods supposed to match the dash or has it been replaced?

Most of the instruments don't work and I have no dash lights so I suspect the pod's been worked on. Everything on tghe dash is in German and I'm still trying to get the complete translation. I'm pretty sure one of the warning lights says the "rabbit is cooked"...

Check the carpet edge under the rear seats...that will give you a idea as to original color.

Black pod in another color interior is not unusual.

Again not too unusual for the gauges not to work. Check and clean grounds, fuses then go from there. We need pics of the interior!!

Also there are several translator programs on the net. Just google GERMAN TO ENGLISH TRANSLATION.

Typically, these early cars had a black pod.

How does it run?
Pictures would help.
I put a carpet kit into an 84, including gluing on new door carpet sections.
Really transformed the car.
Be sure to fix any leaks first though.
Ed knows the early cars better than I do, but we have an 85 with brown interior and brown pod. I have an extra brown pod, but I think its got typical cracking.

Get the Black one recovered in Brown Leather. Rob Budd has a very nice DIY kit if you got the skills. I too got my Carpet Kit from him and 100% agree with Landseer, it totally changes the look.

Here you can see in my Euro Restore Project, the difference from old Brown Carpet to Brand New Black Carpet from Robb Budd.
