Dual euro exhaust
I have an '83 US in which the previous owner included an uninstalled euro OEM dual exhaust. He said it increases horsepower 30+. The current exhaust is an aftermarket and needs some welding on the box muffler in which my friend can do(he's a welder). It sounds deeper than the stock exhaust on my other '83 in which I think I'll put the euro exhaust on. What modifications are needed? thnxs p.s. what is the best sounding and performance exhaust made. Borla?

I think 30hp is a bit optimistic. Since your old exhaust is shot I'd use it. You will probably need to change the cat or the pipe that's in place of the cat(the y-pipe) seeing as your exhaust manifolds go 2 into one now you need them to stay dual. Someone may sell it. I use a Borla because it sounds good and flows well. I used to have an Ansa (still do somewhere just not on the car), I think that sounded a bit better but was more restrictive. I have never heard a bad sounding exhaust on a 928. They all sound good. Stock is too quite for me though

Oh, and Dano, whenever I bump into that video, may that be here or on FaceTube, I always have to hook up my computer to the big stereo and crank it to 11!!

Euro vs US is "maybe" 10 hp and that includes the Euro not having any cats which you generally won't get away with in the US.
Technically speaking for almost any practical variation on a Euro motor a single tube exhaust is better, same flow, less weight. |

The only test in NH is the OBD II hook up. So if the cars don't have it your good. Technically they are supposed to pass a "visual" to make sure all the stuff is there but on the older cars it's almost always overlooked.

Pete,
I think the RMB is a bit loud & "Mustang-y" personally. A single 2.5" Ansa was on a friend's Euro '82 about 12 years ago. He took the car to a muffler shop & had the MSDS Long-tube headers installed & a dual 2.25" exhaust: lost all his torque: was so p-o'd that he took it around the block & back again to have it all changed. Went to a single 3" in lieu of the dual 2.25 (8% less flow), still no torque: had the cast iron manifolds returned to the engine & got most of his torque back. Went home & swapped on the Old 2.5" Ansa & was a happy camper again, sad story, but true. Euro 2v cars appear to love a single 2.5" pipe. I have a single 3" on my friend's Euro '85, way too drony & loud, but made 255rwhp. Ansa pipe is 2.5", though not stainless. I high-flow (straight through) muffler flows better. If it were me, I'd keep the manifolds, keep the Y-intersection (measure it), & go a single 2.5" pipe with mandrel-bends cut/welded in place, using a single straight-through muffler (longer is quieter + mixes better to remove more of the pulsiness of the V8). Listen to my car on the drag strip: single 3" (with turbo) and a 3" 18" long UltraFlow muffler: sounds great! ('86 32v Turbo) YouTube - 12 second pass by turbocharged Porsche 928S Mark

Glad they released your car before I heard any more Bob Dylan
sounds great. turbos don't seem to alter the sound any. I have a 85 euro 16v. I have 85-86 32v headers, y-pipe with cat delete, into a 2.75 (?) single Borla. No complaints. I ran through the tunnels in Boston the other day (we don't have any tunnels in NH) down shifted into 3rd and ran at about 4K rpm. I loved it.. not so sure about the construction crew however.
