Here was my Results before and after my Magnaflow Cat was changed.

Before:

15mph
HC=128
NO=136

25mph
HC=87
NO=133

After:

15mph
HC=11
NO=156

25mph
HC=44
NO=126

Change your Cat to bring that HC down.

This was on a CIS car, just so you know, but will yield same results. Here was my thread: http://porsche928forums.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=410

Well, as you can see that the NO isn't what was lowered. It was my HC. Here's my other 928, that I did some work on and it did lower the NO. Main things done were all Rubber (Couplers, Vac Lines, etc) replaced, New O2 Sensor and Injectors Serviced and Flowmatched at WH.

rrbd where are you located?
what year is your car?
For best running try using the least expensive Bosch super copper tips
about 1.99 at autozone
WR7DC or PN # 7900

rrbd 05-08-2011 08:33 AM

Hi Merlin; I,m located in Santiago, Chile. South America. (where was the Miners rescue remember?)

My 928 S year is 1985, USA version.
I,m looking for new spark plugs, as you recomended, Bosch WR7DC, super cooper, and clean the inyectors, as DP, said.
Any other necessary tips? I apreciatte that.

you may need to get the MAF rebuilt as well as replace the ICV and a new O2 sensor and possibly new cats

rrbd 05-08-2011 12:15 PM

Tks, excuse me, what means MAF and ICV ?
The O2 sensor y replace it until 16 months ago, but I don,t use my car every day, just WE, and no more than 80 miles per mounth.
But last week, I participed in the first PORSCHE FESTIVAL in "Las Vizcachas" Speed Way, and went to 140 mph in 4 gear, at the end of the circuit, and brakes, (have a big rotors) suspenssion, (manual regulable coils), and have a kevlar estabilizador bar up engine) and engine function very well, but btn 3.600 and 5.600 RPM, in 2 nd. Gear the engine, feel no continue upper RPM increase ir regular form (like cof cof cof) and feel little explosion in the exaust system, in 3 d. gear does,t feel anything strange... and 4 normal too.
But was a mi first time in the circuit, amazing experiencie, everythig very safe, where 140 Porsches and only 3 928. And I finished 3ed, place in a regulation rece where you must doing the same time (1" minute, 3 sc.:) for 15 laps, and the organization put inside te copkit one "transponder" to look your time. Grate..:D

MAF = mass airflow unit just under the aircleaner
ICV= Idle control valve under the right hand rear of the intake manifold after you remove the aircleaner you can see it .

the combination of all these worn parts will make your car run lousy also consider replacing the ignition wires as they are prolly worn out as well,
get the good ones from Roger,
BERU they are plug and play

rrbd 05-08-2011 01:42 PM

The replace of these parts, MAF and ICV seems easy,
BTW, Who is Roger ?
Beru is a trade mark international . :)

Mrmerlin 05-08-2011 07:25 PM

Roger@************ sell parts , fast shipping, best prices
Sells Beru wire sets, the good ones

rrbd 05-08-2011 08:34 PM

Maybe is a same dealer called 928 international, where y bougth some parts, but I make a very good quotation from them, your recomended dealer, pelicanparts and "perfomance", was I used, because all the items suggestion to get down emissions are near to U$5.000 :o

Danglerb 05-09-2011 01:16 AM

Several sources including Roger offer rebuilt Maf, and while you may need a cat and ICV, I would start with clean injectors and a rebuilt MAF. Fixing all the vacuum leaks would also be good.

rrbd 05-09-2011 06:05 AM

Ok, I,m going step by step, it sound better. tks. Danglerb:)
