Not exactly... O can be use in the first 3 location of the VIN, WPO = Porsche

Kind of funny that it was optioned for CA but never was check. Maybe the original owner moved to another state.

RE: 83 VIN# check

addingHey Guys, thanks to all of you, i went and looked at the car yesterday, its at the

mechanic shop, he said he replaced the gas tank and fuel pump, but the car starts

and dies at the same time , the car smelled like alcohol very bad smell from the old

gas. the car body and interior looks pretty good except dash and pod need to

be done. how would you flush the fuel system from bad gas. iam talking about

the car in this thread. owner wants $ 4,000, any answers will help me decide.

iam thinking $2,000 and no more. Ed. P.S. whats option 900 tourist car mean.

Hey George! Ppppppppppppppics!!!

Also, I am glad you are down to earth on this one. Unlike someone who didn't like hearing the truth in spending. Dropping a Tank is not very hard. Just a few hoses, 4 13mm bolts holding the strap and drop. Make sure to put a jack under the tank as it makes it easier to lower (same with re-install). I took mine to a Radiator Place and had them Power or Acid Wash (can't remember which), but it wasn't too much $$.

At the same time while the tank is out, I used carb cleaner to back flush from the engine side back to the rear of the car. Making sure nothing bad was in the lines.

Pics and your inspection will tell us how much you should be paying, at least in our opinion.

WP zero is Porsche, the letter O is not used, really.

EFI type 928's cycle gas from the tank to the injectors, with pressure regulated by flow back to the tank. 10 seconds after the key was turned to on all the gas in the lines would have been flushed back to the tank.

The shop doesn't sound like it knows the 928 very well EVERYTHING they might have touched would be suspect to me.

I Stand Corrected

[QUOTE=Danglerb;6010890]WP zero is Porsche, the letter O is not used, really.

Dan

You are correct... I should have check my VIN sticker (like I just did) before "challenging you" , as oppose to rely on the fact that both CarFax and Atlanta VIN check took the O, obvious their computer makes the correction.

Cheers

JJ

I do believe that Option 900 (Tourist delivery) is when the car is pick up at the factory.

Here is another handy link for all Porsches (title can be misleading(; http://www.964uk.com/Documents/Porsche%20Option%20Codes.pdf
