Coilover set will be avaible for fondling at the next Austin GTG on the 13th for those who are interested. James: is that the correct date??

Coilovers available for fondling: drool-charges apply: see at the Austin GTG this weekend for all interested parties.

Mark any update, did you get the 5 orders to kick this off?

MarkRobinson 10-27-2011 04:38 AM

One-sy's here & there, and a group in Russia delayed by shipping costs, but otherwise mostly crickets on this site so far. I expect that to change a little after Third Coast in 2 weekends.

QA1 12 way adj coilovers for 928 - Rennlist Discussion Forums

I'm still interested, when they're ready.

MarkRobinson 11-01-2011 08:12 AM

They're ready, just still compiling orders for the group-buy, so everyone can enjoy a discount. :)

If one opts for front only what is a good shock for the rear sets?
With the new coil over is there a lowered limit to ride height with regards to lower control arm angle?
Last, what spring rate is stock? What rate is available in new configuration?

Well yes, suspension configurations are typically based on the lower arm being horizontal to the ground, so as your geometry setting changes, so does the travel angle of the tires, though on our car having upper & lower control arm path more linearly. The worst thing about lowering a 928 lower than an inch or so is the dramatic angle increase in the tie rods, leading to jerking of the steering wheel when you hit bumps.

But, I have this solved too & will be offering full custom, fully adjustable tie rod ends to eliminate any off-gemoetry on the 928, starting in about 2-3 weeks once my beta testing is complete. I'll have photos to post then. My expected retail price should be under $240 for both full sets. :)

Rear shocks: not sure. Koni is ok, but for that price you're on your way to my setup. Boge are junk in my opinion & I didn't care for the softness of the bilsteins on my last 928: too Lexus-ish.

wallstreet 01-27-2012 10:13 AM

Sorry I edited during you r reply.
What is stock spring rate and what is available?
What is new springs dia.; smaller than OEM?

springs are about 1.5" smaller in overall diameter making installations easier in the front. Stock front is 300#, rear is 200#. I recommend 400# front with 275# rears: nice & comfy with a hint of sport. "Sport" is increased by controlling the dampening (dial on the bottom of the strut).

I can provide other spring rates upon request.

What's that looking like? How many more orders needed before you order? ETA of when we would have the parts?

MarkRobinson 01-31-2012 12:43 PM

I've been honoring the price w/o getting the initial numbers since not everyone was up for the pony come the holidays. :/

I have a race kit shipping next weekend. Love the set on my car: totally changes the "washiness" of the stock 928 :)

Landseer 02-04-2012 03:58 AM

Mark, this looks like a nice set of parts.

We have an 86 here that has the softer stock springs and worn-out shocks.
Wife likes it, but I find it exceedingly frustrating to drive.

Please recap for me, if we elect the street setup, what do you expect the full price to be, all four corners included.

MarkRobinson 02-04-2012 07:16 AM

1295 for all four corners, ground shipping included within the 48 states. :)

Will get with you this week..

MarkRobinson 02-04-2012 06:22 PM

Sweet!

Hey Guys, I've been updating the sets as I go and have made the following modifications.

Street sets/race sets will now get a new sandwich rear lower adapter: all current kits out there will have their lower mounts updated for free. New sandwich works and is stronger, sturdier, and rattle free (not that it rattled before but I've seen some mounts that look like they could rattle under the right/wrong circumstances).

Still 400/275 spring rates supplied with street sets.

Race sets will now feature a no-rubber bearing-mounted upper coilover perch on a shorter strut to allow for even more feedback for racing.

All Grade-8 & locking hardware supplied with coilovers.

Pricing: $1400set (street/street track) delivered and $1750 for the race set.

I'd be happy to lower the price as per my initial thread if 4-5 orders come in at one time.

Feel free to ping me for more information. I'll have pictures to post once my items come back from the zinc platers. :)

What years do these work on? Also, I kinda want the "Lexus-ish" ride as the car will be primarily for touring (no track ever).
