Advice on glove box door repair.

It looks like someone i.e. PO has ripped open the glove box door or my 928 damaging it in the process. Can anyone tell me if this is fixable or am a resigned to the fact that I am going to have to buy another door?

Those whole Gloveboxes show up on eBay from time to time. Just be patient and set up a search on ebay and it will let you know when one pops up. Or someone here might have a good used one. I never broke my Glovebox down to that level so I can't for sure say if your's is fixable or not.

Here's one on ebay now, but it's not brown like yours.

Sun Shrunk -

Hey Rip812, If the front exterior material on your glove box door is in good shape it is really simple to reuse on a newly acquired ebay door. Just remove the trim screws and inner frame edging and carefully apply a moderate sized hair dryer to release the glue that attaches the material. Just ease up one end (careful not to stretch it) and slowly work the heat up along the under side edges. A putty knife works great. A little upholstery glue, reattach the trim, adjust the lock bar a few times and you're back in business.

I've even had an upholstery shop replace the covering in black leather for $30 on a glove box door that had been seriously "sun shrunk". Just call around until you find a shop that does a lot of high end upholstery work and perhaps they'll have just the right amount of material off the end of a left over role.

Good Luck, Michael
