Newbie--what is this??

Hey all-new to the forum, just got my ride into the garage at the new house after sitting for quite a while at parent's place. So far it's had new radiator, spark plugs, air pump and fuel pump put in.

1984 928S US

Looking forward to picking everybody's brains, so let's start now.

What is the little port-looking thing here? It looks like something should be plugged into it. Appreciate any help. Thanks!

That's not on my 1983 S, but could have been introduced in the next year. I believe I have seen this in other threads. A test port of somekind.

Sweet ride! Welcome to the Board.

Yup, that's a test port. I don't have one on my 80 Euro, but there's one on my son's 86 944

I think Porsche was really unsure of exactly what they might have to do related to smog in the middle 80's so there is a fair amount of CYA.
