San Diego Electrical Power Outage?

Ok, now that was slightly panic mayhem here in San Diego. Water Rationing, Traffic for miles due to no stoplights, etc. It was a fun night.

Weird that our Power Grid goes from Orange County to Ensenada , Mexico.

Been there, got the tee-shirt buddy. 5 days sans power after Hurricane Irene. I heard the whole thing was caused by a tech removing some monitoring equipment?

HA HA we get that several times per year up here on the North Coast Power and Phone go's out
They still have the Power lines along the coast up in the air rather then down in the ground .
My Guess is that the workers want to stay working and like the Power and Phone to go out ?

On the other Hand only 1 smog for the life of ownership on your car ! yea
and no smog / parking meters / very few police / Just a bunch of Pot Growers and retired people like me . Wow in Mendocino there are 3 pot stores now open to the public .

Actually, your power grid is the western US including part of Canada to Ensenada. Here's a map:

Since the whole western US is interconnected, the system is designed and operators trained to drop customers if an entity becomes deficient to prevent a greater blackout. That's why only San Diego and part of Arizona was out instead of the whole grid.

The continental US is made up if three grids; eastern, western and Texas.
