White euro auto with 18" carrera wheels? Yes I know him; works at Colvin automotive running body shop; u interested? Nice enough car; he spent thousands getting the title properly changed as prior owner sold car cause he couldn't get the car through DOT for a clear title.

How did he even get it past customs, or is it one of those cars that slipped into country long ago and just has no paper work?

...the latter I think. It's legal now as I understand. Clean car, don't remember too much about it but clean is hard enough to find these days. Mechanical items are easily enough addressed.

If the car has a Federalization sticker on the door jamb, along with an improvised VIN "device" visible on the A-pillar or the dash in the normal place, then it is legal. If not, then it isn't.

-It doesn't matter any more. Last year a 1985 car became 25 years old; At this point it doesn't need to be "federalized" and as such can now legally be imported and simply registered. ROW 928's have VIN's that start out as: "WP0ZZZ", and the tripple "Z" typically generates an error code when you go to register it for the first time. In my case, they had to call the head office in Tallahassee, the capital of Florida, in order to manually enter the VIN and give me a valid title. Some insurance companies have a problem with it too- I'm with Travelers, and they continuously send me notices saying they don't recognize the VIN, though they still cover it. In the end, every state in the Union has a 928S2 from Europe tooling around wasting silly corvettes and S4's, so it can be done.

If you buy a 928S2 and you commit yourself to making it run right, you won't be disappointed! These things are scary fast when they run right.

OH....it's an Auto?

Walk away-

Sorry...but I don't deal with automatic transmission 928's. You might as well buy a Pontiac Bonneville; My mom drives one, it is the same car~

I thinks easier 25+ years old to import, but far from easy, and some states like Calif it will never be registered.

That's a bad sign. Especially if you got the correct number. When I buy things, if I have a bad feeling right off the bat, I am usually right. Use your judgement on this.

I prefer a seller with poor sales skills, means I can pay less, but I agree on the heeby jeeby, when a deal starts to feel funky, walk away, but in this case Mark knows them or knows of them.

I agree in general guys, but he did get Ed's VM, hasn't called back yet: works 12hr days as a body shop manager for a restoration company here in town, very busy guy, not the best phone/TM guy either.

He's nice enough. No he has not done any body work on the car but It's probalby had some paint work it's life since it's 26 years old (likely). He knows to call, I'll let him know you're awaiting his call.

Mark
