Steering wheel - what do you think?

I can't say that I'm a huge fan of the original 928 steering wheel - so I was looking at maybe doing a Momo in leather when I stumbled across this on Ebay - what do you all think? (I liked the pix, so I pulled the trigger - but we'll see what it really looks like when it arrives...) Comes with a hub as well, which is a bonus if it actually fits...

According to the description this is an
"original Momo Porsche leopard wood and black leather elevated hub 13" steering wheel for 1970's-1980's 911/930/914/924/944 models. The steering wheel is cut free but does have a few cracks but still looks good with working horn button."

I suppose if worse comes to worst, my son has an '83 944 in the two-tone brown and tan interior that this would look REALLY sharp in...

(and it was pretty hard to beat for $100...)

(My car is a clean 81 in light blue with the tan interior...)

"Agreed. The 928 was the first clean sheet Porsche. In some respects, the engineers reinvented the wheel. An example is the steering wheel. Instead of using the same sized spline that was used on the 911,924 and 944, they opted for a larger spline so the wheels won't interchange. Another example is the electrical. They could have used a smaller panel with a common fuse for lighting but chose to have a single fuse for each exterior bulb. The fuel pump relay for the CIS 928's could have used off the shelf products manufactured for the 924 and MB but the engineers chose to go with a larger 15 circuit so a new relay had to be developed. The list goes on for almost every area."

Ok - seems the hub will likely NOT work - no problem - will hand that off to my son - I'm sure he's going to want to personalize his car a bit anyways...

I have Momo's in both my cars, You just need the hub adaptor, I think it's about $70. Easy install. IMO 928 wheels are very ugly, which could be forgivable if they felt nice, but sadly they don't. The early 3 spokes are the only ok ones. I couldn't drive a 928 if I had to stare at that thing all day.

Not sure, it kinda doesn't look right. I got "had" on eBay for a fake Momo and it's still in the box. It will NEVER touch my 928. Also, why that color combo when you have a Light Blue/Tan Interior? Don't really see how that color wheel will match your interior. Maybe a Brown Interior 928. Pics when you get it mounted please.

For that wheel to work well you really would need to pimp out the rest of the interior to match.

Yeah - it may not work in the plain tan interior of my 928, at least, not without some more of that "leopardwood" trim. BUT - if it doesn't look good in the 928, it should look pretty good in the 944 with the two-tone brown/tan interior...

So what ARE you guys using for steering wheels? Who has stayed stock, and who has swapped into something else? Pictures? What do you all like? I recognize that this is a personal and a style question, but I'd love to see some pictures....

Here is the MOMO Quark I installed; the 928 steering wheel looks awful in my opinion. This wheel really feels & looks nice in the car. Stock photo below.

Yeah - I had been looking at the Momo Quark - not very expensive, and leather inserts - how does it feel? Grip? Steering feel/responsiveness? Good size?? Is that 320 or 350mm?

The wheel feels great in hand. The size is 350mm (13.75") dia. Its shape has sort of a flattish bottom which is great for me because I like a steering wheel to sit low in my lap. The thickness of the wheel is nice for me also; the 928 wheel is too "skinny" for me, this wheel has substance.
Trust me, I get compliments on the steering wheel all of the time from people. It just matches up well with the car. I will take interior pics of the wheel in the car today and post for you to peruse.

That ones the Momo Competition. It fits the 928 well. It's pretty subtle. I ended up putting that in my 951. The other one (momo trek) is a bit busy for a 928. I have a few different pieces (seats, knob) that it doesn't out of place. But I'm sure with conservative nature of the 928 crowd most dont like it.

Thanks Leo, a thumbs up from you is always a good thing (your work always looks good imo...)! I was afraid of posting pics of the wheel in lieu of getting flamed but what the heck. Thanks again.

Your Competition is a good looking wheel for the 928. Your Trek looks good too. It looks to more for 'spirited" driving. Are those 911 seats?
