While I'm slightly confused about your question, the Y pipe will fit any 78-84 USA 928. The euro cars had a dual exhaust so they are different.

ok - my question might seem a little murky - i've worked on 944's but these cars are new to me - the deal is i bought 2 928's locally - one for parts the other i'm going to try to bring back to life - the parts car is a 79 4.5 cis manual - stripped it and sent it to the crusher - the other car is an 84s 4.7 electronic fuel injection automatic - the PO was going to swap the trannies so he removed the exhausts from both cars and the manual trans from the 79 - well then he lost interest and he either lost the exhausts or just doesn't want me to have them because i can't get hold of him - so i have 2 cars and 0 exhausts - some fellow 928ers on this site have posted pics for me to see what it is i'm looking for - since the engines in these 2 cars are different i'm not sure if the y pipes will match up to the headers - some say yes all 78-85 exhausts are the same - some say no you'll have to match the engine/year - there is someone fairly close with an exhaust from an 82 weissach model - does anyone know if that will fit my 84 - i want to stay stock and cheap until i can get it started and known what i'm looking at in terms of what it will take to restore this car - thanks to all in advance

yes it does - pretty strict too

...then I would just find an 83 or 84 and use the exhaust from those years. I've given, as well as others the exact routing and what goes in between. The only thing you need to make sure you get correct is the Cat (which has an air tube), your 49 state so you can get one. CIS and L-Jet are different.
