Condo's blow
I live on a culdesac in a condo, which means the middle of my driveway is shorter due to the circular end of the street, and that puts one corner of each of the two cars I've had parked there for 21 years a couple inches over the curb. Today I got notices on both cars from the association parking giving me 72 hrs before towing.
I'm not even sure I won't still be too mad to speak civilly in 72 hrs let alone do something. On the bright side this is motivating me to fix some things on the 928's. 83 is getting a new brake booster right now. |

Wow..... That is messed up. I have some similar experienced.
I live in a rented house in an older side of OKC. And I share a driveway with one of my neighbors. It is a 2 car drive way that is really long. When we moved in the land lord paved my side of the driveway as it was not paved before. Very thankful that she did that. However, on the other side of our house there is an area that the land lord had brought in some gravel to make a second drive for extra parking. Well after a year of living in this house and parking many cars there for extended periods I got a ticket for parking in my yard. $130.... I was pissed. This happened the night after we had a halloween party. It was a fairly small party and we weren't being loud. A house on the corner of my street was having a large party and got the cops called on them twice. As the cops drove by my house they could tell we were having a party but we weren't being loud and no complaints were filed on us. They shined their spot light on my house when they drove by. Needless to say the next night I came home from work at about 11pm-12am or so. The ticket was written and dated about 30-45 minutes after I got home. He had to be waiting for me. Especially considering it was an actual police officer and not code enforcement like it should have been. By state law they are supposed to give a warning before writing a ticket and I never received one. I went to the first court date and plead not guilty and paid the ticket and bond. I screwed up on this and over slept on the court date so I lost out on any chance that I had to fight the ticket and was out the ticket plus bond fees. About 2-4 weeks later I received another ticket for the same thing. I had informed my land lord about this after the first one and she never offered to help with the ticket. I told her about this second one and she voluntarily brought in a truck load of gravel and some landscaping timbers to bring it up to code so that we could park there. I had to pay this ticket as well. Needless to say I wasn't too happy about having to pay both tickets, especially considering the land lord told me I could park there. But now I have not received any other tickets regarding this. I wish you luck with this. Hopefully you can get it worked out. Maybe have to take them to court or something like that. They have been getting strict on enforcing laws like this in other cities here in OK. A friend of mine had to move a boat and his trans am that he has been trying to restore because they weren't tagged.

I'm so glad I don't live in a community like that. Reminds me of the gated community my sister and brother-in-law live in just a few miles from me. Their mail box got hit and they had to get the neighborhood approved model that matches all the others. $1,600.00 and they had so many days to get it installed or else be fined. And that price didn't include the installation which was in concrete.
If anyone wants to park their spare 928 here, I have plenty of driveway space! I just get to "move it around" as needed. ![]() ![]()

Yeah that is some B.S. You can't park in your own f*(king yard. I'm so happy I don't live in one of those ritzy square neighborhoods. Or any neighborhood for that matter. I live in an industrial park where people drag race on weekends. I could leave an F-16 in my yard and nobody would say s%*t about it. I could blow up jeeps in my back yard if I wanted to. I never want to live in a city again. There are too many stupid idiots with nothing to do all day but complain and cause trouble. Why don't these morons gets jobs?

Most of those HOA Morons are retired and 90 years old. They have nothing better to do but to harass. Glad I backed out of a Condo we were in Escrow with. Bought a home built in 1958 with zero rules. My 80 year old neighbors are my personal Security Guards, whom let me know of any thing out of the ordinary.

Regulations for Life in the Fast Lane -
Hey Danglerb, It sounds like the regulations for most of our Texas condo’s and housing communities are a cut and paste group effort made by very elderly retiree transplants from California.
![]() The next morning there were 4 other cars parked in a row down the same side of the street. Just before driving off I luckily had noticed a couple of large nails that had been propped at an angle against two of my tires. Evidently we had taken the parking spot routinely used by someone’s van. Prior to heading home, I suggested that they all have a community meeting so everyone can mark their reserved spots along the curb. This way I could gladly abide by their preference the next time we’re in town. Life in the fast lane, Michael

I'm the president of our HOA, and on the board of the super HOA that overseas everything.
My biggest problem is owners who have 2 or 3 car garages, and use them as storage, so leave all the cars on the street, not even in their own driveways. Other areas around SD have no parking in your own driveway, no leaving your garage open or doing any maintenance in your own driveway or garage! I have just been reelected, so no changes coming around here any time soon ![]()

What I don't understand is why people move here instead of skipping this messy step and going straight to Leisure World.
Association meeting this week, so I plan to sit on my temper and look for a reasonable solution, like get off my back because I am working on improvements and we are talking literally a few inches at the end of a culdesac. If there is no reasonable accommodation its going to be a royal PITA and so am I. |

I'm putting myself in a zen mood, making the best of it either way, but I've had plenty of amusing ideas.
Do what Larry Flynt did, porn actors work for almost nothing, find some cheap ones that look "sort of" like the people you are annoyed with and make a short movie making fun of them. The legal system is so stacked against homeowners and in favor of associations that its very difficult to do anything that isn't worse for you than it is for them, and I'm not masochistic. |

Our HOA became so bad that we voted all of them off the board and new board is much better. It was bad, bad, bad.....First thing the new board did was cut costs and reduce the monthly HOA fee by 20 dollars a month.

Last election previous board announced it wouldn't run and nobody else did either, so they stayed.
Much like politics in general you make the duties of the office stink to anybody normal, so the only people that run are those that like it. I wouldn't want to be on the board for money. |

Well I stood tall, made my demands in a forceful voice, and convinced the board to accept my agreement to all of their terms.
I did some research and turns out it takes approval of 3/4 of all homeowners to make a change in the CC&Rs, which essentially means nothing ever gets changed. The stuff is boilerplate legal, challenged and revised over the years so that without a change in state or federal law its untouchable. So much for that plan. I haven't given up in entirety, but 3/4 approval is a huge hump, it means just 15 people out of the 60 or not voting yes (failing to vote apparently counts as no) can block any change. My 928's are about 178 inches long, about the same for my Mustang, my driveway is about 164 inches at the center plus a 6 inch curb. The rule is nothing my extend past the driveway, so none of my cars can park there. Parking in the guest area requires a permit, no permits issued without 2 cars parked in the garage. I agreed to put in a lift and park two, one over the other, and that was ok. Bottom line I have til the middle of June to get this done, and it means one of my cars will parked on a back street that is 5 min or so walk away, but reasonably secure so far, and most important wife's car remains right out front in a guest spot. |

Is the Garage tall enough to stack your cars? At least this gives you reason to have a lift now ![]() Now is the time to get one of those moving crates to your house, throw all that stuff in your garage in it, store it and sort it later. That's a lot of work to procrastinate.

I have a scissor lift, its going to need to be sold.
Garage ceiling is just shy of 12', I think, some tape measure time is ahead of me. Issue is that I have storage area all across the front of my garage 5' down from the ceiling, AND I have a sectional garage door that rolls up just below it. I don't know if I can locate lift far enough from the front to back in 928 (nose out), then lift it high enough to put another in below it, but full discussion to follow in its own thread. I've got a 10x35 storage unit mostly filled with overflow of our junk, and things left from both of our sets of parents passing away 10 years ago, and we tossed and sold with little mercy at the time. |

I did some research on installing a 4 post lift, as I have a standard garage door also and a 12 foot ceiling. Turns out there is a way to remove the usual center pull motor and chain and put a worm drive motor on one end, and reshape the tracks so the door goes up about 2 feet and then back and up at an angle of about 45 degrees, so it would miss two 928s on a four post lift. I did draw it out and verified clearance.
I just redid my garage with this in mind, but have not actually done it yet.
