Hagerty Insurance Agreed Value
A word of caution. Hagerty's agreed value is a marketing, and advertising gimmic!
After I was rear ended last month, Hagerty has drug their feet getting my 928 appraised, and the appraisal states that the costs are based on the use of aftermarket parts. Hagerty will do anything rather than pay the agreed value of the car. My car has lost all of it's collector value regardless of how well it's repaired. Hagerty is harder to work with than the other drivers insurance company. Hagerty has the worst customer service I've ever had to deal with. I'm going to have to retain a lawyer. HAGERTY IS THE WORST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Sorry to hear about that....
I think any insurance company will do ANYTHING to get out of paying. Funny, these insurance companies collect BILLIONS of $$$ fro us each year, and when you need to collect, they make it next to impossible to get your money...Don't get me started...I used to have Hagerty with all my street rods, and muscle cars. I used Hagerty for almost 15 years (maybe longer)....Fortunately, I never needed them (never had to file a claim). BUT, let's face it, all Insurance Companies are complete scumbags. They're a necessary evil. Can't drive without them, and they know it. I was actually thinking of looking into JC Taylor, just for the hell of it....Don't know if they're any better or any worse??

Yes, I agree they are all Scumbag and Garbage. I belong to USAA when it was only offered to Military Officers, I had a claim with them and you would think a prestigious Insurance Company like USAA would cater to your needs, they totally dropped the bomb on me. Eventhough I wasn't even at fault, literally just sitting getting ready to leave a parking lot, when two cars collide in front of me and one of them ends up hitting me. From giving me the runaround to trying to sell me off with using aftermarket parts. Hell no, I stood my ground and got what I wanted, but I never should have to go through that. Probably helped that I was in full Us Customs Uniform with a 9mm on my Belt when he came to look at my car at work. His voice was cracking and he was shaking as he was trying to talk to me, I thought he was literally going to pee in his pants. The moral of my story, ALL Insurance Companies are the same no matter who they are when it comes to claims, they wanna bend you over like a prison inmate does every night in his cell with Corn fed Bubba.

Used to be a company made it's profit by taking care of it's customers by providing a good service with value. The primary focus was the customer.
These days it's all about the shareholder. Customers and employees are the variables that are tweaked in order to maximize profits. Don't get me wrong, it's always been about making money, the difference is in "how" you you go about it.

I've had Hagerty for over 15 years on multiple vehicles but have never had a claim. Currently I have my 928 and two rare motorcycles insured through them.
Customer service: Whenever I call from my home or cell phone, they know my name and have my policy up before I even say a word. They seem to be real car people, the men and women that answer the phone know cars inside and out. My motorcycles were not in their database. They worked with me getting them added and valued through club sales and completed auctions. A good friend has had two claims in the last two years from damage he caused due to his over-stuffed garage. They allowed him to pick the body shop and had the checks to him within days. After the second occurrence, he did get a stern letter about taking care of the car. Funny part is the second one was the beautiful Stingray I sold him back in November and I saw it parked in front of a body shop about 2 weeks ago waiting to be picked up. He was trying to keep that one a secret from me. I've been in car and motorcycle clubs and have belonged to many forums dedicated to those vehicles. This is the VERY FIRST complaint I've ever heard about Hagerty. I can't even find complaints using Google. I'm also not quite sure where the OP is coming from here. My car is insured to be repaired and if it's stolen or beyond repair then I get the agreed value. If my car is insured for $20K agreed and I get $3K in damage, is Hagerty supposed to total the car because "it lost collector value?" Sorry, but it doesn't work that way and where do you draw the line? If my door gets scratched and needs to be repainted, it loses some collector value. The repair is $400...now what? Are they supposed to maybe cut me an extra check for $2,000 for its loss of collector value? WHAT INSURANCE COMPANY ON THE PLANET EARTH DOES THAT? I've also never heard of them wanting to use aftermarket parts unless originals are not available anywhere at any price. Right off their own website: You have repair options Our main concern is making sure your car gets the proper repairs. That’s why we offer: Repair shop of choice – You’re in control when it comes to repairs for your car. You decide who should do the work on your car – not us. If you prefer, we’ll even pay you to do the work yourself. Appraiser network – Hagerty’s hand-picked network of independent appraisers have experience with collector vehicles and how to repair them. Total losses – You have the option to buy back salvage and rebuild the vehicle. Start with the right parts The right repair begins with the right parts, so we’re serious about tracking them down, with: In-house parts specialist – We have a team member whose only job is tracking down the perfect replacement part for your vehicle. Parts resources – We have a list of resources for locating hard-to-find parts. LKQ, OEM, or NOS parts preferred – We try everything possible not to use aftermarket parts. Your first post is a complaint about an insurance company with next to no details. Sorry, but I'm not exactly worried about my coverage.

Well, I think in our case we are dealing with aftermarket parts. Are there any new stock fenders available from the factory?
Insurance is based on praying on people, instilling bad things will happen to you. Actuarial tables on the percentage will file a claim. They can keep all records private. They OWN our legislatures!! They spend tons of money in DC with lobbyists. They get laws passed to their benefit! Look at the current commercial being televised "Mayhem". They are real scum and when too many claims are filed, they come to the government to bail them out because "so many people have their pension money invested in them". As was the case in California with the earth quakes some years ago. I think the Congressman was Cox or something who helped the insurance.

So why do we allow lobbyists in state and/or feral governments?
Especially politicians who retire or are not re-elected? A US Senator leaves office at about $130,000 annually and hires on as a lobbyist for over $2 million per year. Why do government officials get pensions after one term. Never happens in public sector. Legislators start in our home communities as prosecutors. They make their mark with us and parlay to a million dollar estate I'm not certain an insurance company uses new parts UNLESS the the vehicle is two or three years old. Maybe by law they are required to use new parts. After that they use LQK. My neighbor expected a new OEM rear hatch on a 2001 Ford Winstar damaged in a rear end collision ; not her fault. One was found for $1200 w/ a total repair of $3000. She got the LQK (after 3 returns by the shop) and the repair was less than $2000. Quote:

Not certain if I agree insurance comps "pray on people" Agreed business is better in time of disaster. But hardware store prosper in storms as do lumber yards et al.
The mayhem commercial is telling us things happen beyond our control. Tell me what I'm missing. When too many claims are filed, an insurance comp usually goes to reinsurance companies for pooled coverage. Tell me where Allstate or State Farm received money from government. If Cox helped out did he go to state or federal government? Truly have not heard of Cox arrangement. Quote:
