Steering rack leak

I replaced my steering rack a couple months ago and the banjo bolt on the rack ( nearest to the left side of the car ) still has a periodic drip. I've replaced the crush washer a couple of times and it still does a slight drip.

I read on rennlist that the bolt might be distorted so I ordered a replacement bolt from 928intl. Anyone have any other recommendations of things to try?

It's definitely coming from the bolt, not above..

Thanks
-Dan

If a crush washer isn't sealing it, then are you sure it wasn't threaded incorrectly in the past. Maybe by the PO?

It's a rebuilt rack, so I'm hoping the threads were ok.

The bolt next to it went in smooth. This bolt went in, but not quite as smooth and I (think) I tried it in both holes ( not sure ).

Can anything be done to the surfaces other than clean them up if ther are any small scratches or will I have to replace the line if needed?

Sorry for all the "What if's", but I like go get as much info before I jump in.

Thanks!
-Dan

I have a feeling that the bolt hole is not perfectly straight and your going in at an angle. Hence, it won't seal correctly. Do you have enough thread to put a couple more crush washers, one more on each side of the Banjo?

If you don't have it sorted by Memorial day weekend let me know. I will most likely be up in N. Beach at my beach house an I could swing over and put an extra set of eyes on it too.
