Pre-start checklist...
Ok...I am getting closer to trying to fire off the wreckscue....
I planned on doing this weekend: Clean and / or remove the tiny screens on the fuel distributor (K-Jet)...(waiting on rings from Pellican) Re-pipe the rear fuel lines... Reinstall the fuel tank.... Install the pumps.... Hook her up and see what happens.... But, although I am anxious, I don't want to rush things...should I... Replace the gearbox fluid first...as the tank is already out, the Giant allen plug is easily accessible.... Change the engine oil and filter...It looks good on the dipstick, but she has been sitting a VERY long time, and if the motor is actually good, I would hate to have screwed myself because I was too anxious... The reason I debate this is purely cost and time related....the motor turns, but without starting and testing the mechanicals, I hate to throw money into it to find the gearbox is bad, or the block is cracked, ETC.....but then again, it is not that much money...secondly, my wife works weekends, and I have needy daughters, and don't have the entire weekend to commit to this....so time management comes in too. Most of all....Did I miss anything I should do..before I juice her up? Input please!!!!

Transaxle plug can be accessed easily even with tank in, leave it alone for now. Yes, replace the oil and filter, just use dino oil, no need for synthetics. What about the screen in the WUR inlet side? Yes, be patient.
also, did you do a compression test on all cylinders yet?

Ok..WUR inlet...check....
Compression test...not yet...didnt even get her to turn over until what, a week ago?....got too excited..lol.. Ok...I got the stuff, I can do that too.... I had planned on doing that after I got it to (hopefully) fire with fuel... What about oil.....for this stage of the adventure, she will remain on jackstands...can I put some cheap oil, like autozone brand or something, for starting / testing and then put better stuff in when her feet are ready to touch the ground? What viscosity would you recommend for the "break-in" oil?

Like I said, Dino Oil. 10/30 will be fine, then you can tweak that type and grade later. DO a Compression Check "First" before firing it up. This will give you a Baseline, it will also tell you right away if your Rings are shot.

10-4 !!
Thanks Leo! I am a little worried if the WUR is going to give me troubles....one of the first things I noticed was that the vacuum line to it was rotted off, and there was some white "crud" in the port...I cleaned it out...I may have to disassemble the WUR...I saw a thread somewhere on it.....
