Hard to belive that no one has don't an ac convertion in a Euro shark

So I guess no one has ever put AC in a Euro 928 before, I guess I am on my own, I will let you all know how it turns out. Thanks, Steve

Honestly, sounds like a huge undertaking. More than likely, the wiring harness supports all the electrical connections. As I found this out when I added Cruise Control to my Euro. The problem with what you are doing is that it is going to take a lot of parts to make work.

All the lines, valves, compressor, condenser, hvac head, drier and all the mounting brackets and hardware. It also might be pretty hard with engine in the car, not sure though about the lines. Anyways, anything can be done, but it all depends on whether it's worth it to you and your location and availability of parts in your area.

Put your location in your Profile and your Year Model in your Signature.

Love the shark and I do live in Tennessee and it get hottt here in the summer time and it is Black on Black. Will keep yalla posted. Thanks, Steve

Just buy a 928 with air and be done with it. After you do all the work, and the parts, you will find that it will cost almost as much as another car

Just drive one in the winter and one in the summer. Perfect idea. Hah

I would get a generic kit from a place like Vintage Air and make a custom setup. The large storage areas under the dash gives plenty of options for controls, duct and supply vents.

Euro - A/C Installation

Hey Steve, With enough time and money anything can be done - but adding the complete A/C system to a Euro 928 would be a major undertaking. Unless you were initially working on a pristine car and plan to own it a long time, it may be very questionable whether this project would be worth it. Once, I helped replace just the evaporator unit (mounted under the dash) and that was a motherrrrr. Especially since we had to first pull the replacement part out of a wrecked car at a junk yard.

Like someone mentioned earlier - price wise you would come out much cheaper just buying a US 928 model with A/C installed as a factory option.

Good Luck, Michael

Well the funny thing about this Euro car is that there is and evaporator and expantion valve all ready installed, however the car has never had air. Now I don't know if the factory puts them in all the car's or what. Please anyone with a Euro car please check to see if your car has one as well I am very interested to see. Thanks, Steve

I have never even heard of a 928 without A/C. Remember it was the flagship car of Porsche.

I took the whole A/C system out of my 928 and my 911. I prefer the 270 air conditioner. 2 windows down at 70mph.

Lots of work to get to the expansion coil over the heater in the dash. I'd go with the roof mount and take it off during the winter.

Actually, that would impair with the aerodynamics of the 928. I would go with a Side Window solution if it were me.

Most likely something has been changed around during the car's life. Considering the low production volume I can see a slim chance that Porsche had to get a special order out to a customer and they ate the loss of a partially installed A/C system.

Manufacturers are bean counters down to every screw used, I don't see them tossing in evap coils with TXVs as standard practice on non A/C cars.
