#153 gets her first emissions test today.

Bit of a hassle. Two older ladies working the site today which was different. First one who takes the information looks the car over and can't find an emblem and had to ask what model Porsche it is.
She then asks the mileage and I tell her 48016. We'll just round that up to 49K. . Uhh no! She just turned 48K 30 minutes ago. "oh, my mistake" and she puts it back to 48K. The Autocheck report I purchased when I bought the car last year lists the mileage of all emissions tests from the mid 90s and up. Nice to have accurate records.

Gas cap test passed on a visual as they had no adapters that fit a Porsche cap.

I then had to sign a waiver that they aren't responsible for damage to my low profile tires while on the dyno. She did put foam blocks in where sensor arms touch the tires to locate the car and then move away. No harm done there.

The other lady runs it on the dyno and the car sounds even more bad-ass from the outside.
She then pulls it to the exit and gets out with sort of a bad look on her face.
Sir?
Let me guess, it failed?
No, I just want your car. Can I have your car?

That was too funny. As it turns out, she's practically a hybrid!

That's pretty cool! I used to run emissions tests here in CT, there is no waiver to sign here. A fellow emissions tech was once stupid enough to spin an 80's BMW 3 series xi on the dyno... broke the transfer case haha. Always wished someone with a 928 would come in so I could run it on the dyno. But I did get to test a lot of awesome cars including Porsches, Acura NSX, beautiful all original XJS and a Ferrari 308 GTS with 8k on it!!! The one thing guaranteed to bring all the gems out of hiding/storage was the 2 year emissions test. Glad you had a good experience and passed the test!

Glad we have no emissions tests here in Michigan. Just another tax! Besides, all the smokers are gone with cash for clunkers, right??
