When you hit POST REPLY...below the dialog box there is a CLICK HERE TO UP LOAD A PHOTO...Then BROWSE , select pic from your pics folder. You may have to resize to a smaller file size before hand.

Or if you use another site to host pics ..just link to that.

Not sure on the 84 model but my ignition switch on my 89 attached to the back...the keyed part is NOT part of the switch.

Is it just the wires that burned? Was the insulation worn and they just shorted? When the ignition switch goes bad all kinds of odd stuff happens. Headlights may be a no go, widows may not operate, car may not start, ect...

I've had my pod and cluster out a million times (it's all documented on this forum ...........) and I do not recall anything that looks like the picture you posted. It looks factory to me though. The only thing that is below my ignition is the wiper button and a thumb dial.

I have seen that on my car. It's on the underside of the steering column member that connects between the steering column and the ignition lock cylinder. I think I located it in the wiring diagram. If I am correct, it is wired into the door chime/timing relay in the center console. I will post a picture of the diagram.

If the circled switch is the correct one, it switches power from fuse #23 to terminal 85 of the "timing relay" (door chime/seatbelt warning lamp timer). So it would make sense that this is the switch which makes the chime sound off if you have the key in the ignition, but I haven't verified this yet.

Ibeleive wegot it. Now, every time I open the door with or withoutthe key in the ignition, I hear the chime. I will need to more the slide to the off position and am not putting the part back in.
