XLR8928 has a pair of 280zx, ones a turbo I think. Maybe he will post a couple picts.

My HS swim coach had a silver 72 240Z 5 speed. Slotted mags and loud mufflers Coolest car I'd ever seen. From the hood vents, looks like Jim's is also a turbo? Meanwhile, Fed Ex guy showed up. Tom and Mark at 928 Intl sent some critical parts for the Bilsteins! Parts are expensive but beautiful aluminum chunks. Am planning to melt hard candle wax into the threads to seal the dirt out. If I can wind these down a tad further, then use the front S4 springs, 3 brown stripes, that are inherently 10 mm shorter than the 3 green stripe incumbents, it MIGHT be low enough. Chris for the collars mix some grease and anti seize and smear it on the threads,
also put some on the spring perches where they contact the collars, You dont really need wax, once the springs are set they can be left alone, and if they need to be moved spray some Pb onto them and it will wake up the grease anti seize. |

Pete, Eibach's will be the immediate next step if this spring / adjuster attempt fails to lower the car. Do you have a recommendation on how to size them and where to buy? I'm shock / spring / wheel / tire illiterate. Quote:

To get the front up to correct ride height required 5 full turns of the adjuster from the bottom - which is 7.5mm on the shock body, or about 15mm of actual ride height once settled. I set mine to 175mm front/rear - which is within the factory range. So the bottom of the range on a bilstein with S4 springs should be around 160mm at the front once fully settled. Given your suspension geometry is exactly the same as an S4 now, those measurements should apply too. For reference my '87 is a no-sunroof 5-speed - weighs 1480kg's on a scale with 10L of fuel in it and no driver. (edit: I just changed the values - can't recall whether I adjusted to 170 or 175mm, so I've erred on the high side. I'll see if I can find the notepad I use in the garage as it'll have all my measurements on it - its gone walkabouts. Annoyingly I just had it up in the air (for O2 sensor) so its not settled and I can't just go measure it) |

Toyota Jeep, another awesome slightly obscure ride! Wish I had one. Reassembly has begun. Stuck with old 3 green striped springs. Will deal with ride height at a later date. Used lots of antiseize on adjusters. Landseer, you will have a 928 that will inhale similar age 911s on the track. Do you plan on any driver ed when done?
Yes, the orange '74 Ghia from Sacramento was all original, i did the motor in that one too, wish i didn't sell all of them and there are more. That 2002 pictured was all original too, i rebuilt the motor installed a hot cam and side draft webers and header. I later painted it very well and drove it for a few years until i was hit hard broadside at a Philly intersection by a car running the light. Enter Porsche from that point forward. |
