Front pads
I looked at my front brakes and they may need new pads. The rotors look fine, no scores only a slight ridge at the edge. Has anyone had experience with just replacing the pads?

I do it all the time. As long as the rotor looks good, feels good, and has no lips on the edges (I file or grind them off) you should be ok. Worse thing that will happen is you may have to pull it apart again and turn the rotors if it brakes strange after that.

If you don't already have a small hand held grinder, buy one at Home Depot for 40 bucks and buy a 60 gt 4" disc for it.
Hold the grinder steady against your knee while you turn the rotor by hand and slowly take down the ridge at a 45 degree angle so that the rotor edges (inner and outer) r chamfered on both sides. This will prevent squeal and make replacing pads easy. BE SURE TO WEAR LEATHER LOVES AND GLASSES Now hurry up and go to the nearest Home Depot!

Technically, you don't HAVE to replace rotors, unless they need replacing (warped, grinding, brake pulsating, etc etc)
If I do NOT replace rotors, I'll score the disc with my 90' air die grinder, clean up the rotor a bit with a 3M 2" sanding disc. Helps to seat the pad, helps with break-in, and less noise... BUT, last time I did the brakes on the 928, I just replaced everything. (pads & vented rotors)
