a couple of before and after and some things I still need

Hey Guys,

It's been a while of working on this guy, but I'm finally getting close and I need a few things if anyone has extras laying around.

I need an instrument cluster. I have cleaned the connections and all my guages work except for the speedo. and I haven't been able to make any progress. Sometimes it will actuate and stick at 80 km/hr and stay there until it quits working again. I also need the auto antenna.

I had to custom make the seat rails for the original sport seats. The PO had cut the original seat rails off the floorpan. He also cut the bolt reciever plates for the top of the back seats off. Not sure what his dreams had been, but makes my job a ton tougher.

I hope you guys like the changes. I was actually able to drive my shark to and from work every day from August to December. Never let me down. I still can't believe I brought this machine back from the dead where it was burried in a farmer's field.

I would not have been able to do it without all of your help and patience.

Please let me know if you have either of those parts as extras

Mine is in kph, but I wouldn't actually mind a mph so I can drive without mathematics...lol

Thanks for the encouragement with my interior. It's getting there.

Cars or clusters?

My speedo does not work if you were talking about instrument clusters.

Cars...never...lol Once you start on one of these things, it's hard to like any other...it becomes an obsession as I'm sure all of you know.

Sure, we can swap speedos. LOL

Do you know it's a bum speedo? Are you getting a signal to the speedo?

I know I get signal to it because it will sporadically jump up to 60 or 80 kph and then drop to 0 again. Has held accurate speed once since I had it for about 2 days. Not sure what is going on. I am hoping that I can just hook another cluster up to it and witness a miracle. If you are willing to swap and see how they react in different cars, I would be game. My cluster is in good shape other than speedo acting up.

Did a quick search. Apparently 78 and 79 speedo are different. Not sure how, but they have a diff. P/N. They may be swappable, but I don't know. I only have 78s.

Thanks Ron,

Ya, i've seen those on ebay, but have been a little gun shy about proper fit and hook-up. 5% of me says to look for an original.

I never thought I would get those seats in due to rails being cut out. I finally one day just tackled it and made my own with bar stock, vice and drill. worked great and I'm very happy. It changed the whole feel of the car.

Did you finally get yours running or are you still having gas pedal/dying issues?

I'll check into as well Jim. I thought they were the same. Let's stay in contact on this post with what we find out or maybe someone in the know will chime in.

I appreciate the offer and we could always send em home if they don't match up.

You got it. Id like to know it they're swappable too.

I think one of the changes was making the gear set more easily serviceable. Dunno if the electrics are diff.

The floor mounts may be removed because someone was tracking the car and needed more headroom with a helmet. You can mount a seat a couple inches lower. I'm thinking about doing the same thing in my 951
