On topic Follow Up,

I was vacuuming out the interior and i looked at the skinny pedal and thought to check for slack in the throttle cable.((should have a year ago))

Sure enough It had at least 3/16" of slack (butterfly not close to fully opening) in the cable.

It was never adjusted from new most likely.

Adjusted it and test drove.

Low power US 16V 928? I don't think so at all.

This Porsche pulls hard all the way up to red-line.

^^^ what he said.

How could you chase all kinds of port and polish, remove weight !!! , and argue header theory, etc, without adjusting throttle cable.

Take your time. Read. The guys before us were very smart.

Chris, firstly, please lighten up.

I didn't argue header theory, i asked if it was really necessary for 16V U.S. cars without intake mods to put them to use, re-read and if that seems argumentative please point out how. I don't claim to know more than anyone about a Porsche model i've only owned a year. I wouldn't spend $1200 on MSDS headers.

I have always checked throttle slack with the Porsche 911s, never any slack with them in my limited experience,
so it simply slipped my mind's priority list.

Thanks for all your help.

Fixer,

Just so's you know, this thread--and your efforts--have inspired a number of folk in this part of the world to take machine in hand and make similar modifications/improvements. The result? A LOT of happy campers.

Glad you shared.

In relation to thread, I replaced my air filter with a "performance" air filter manufactured by the company (are we allowed to plug other companies on Pelican?) with two letters. I do think I got a bump out of it, at least the needle seems to jump even faster when I get on it.
The company says I'm increasing HP, but I can't find any Dyno studies on their website...just a babe with a ping pong ball in a tube.
Does anyone have any feedback on this?
Thanks, Dave.

I'm not a fan of them. I've heard they let a lot of extra dirt through. Also the 928 filter is huge and is more than adequate. I don't think there's any bump. I have used both and there was no difference to me. This is only opinion, I have no actually tests.

I'd never buy another K&N, they have to be oiled and you have to clean them etc.
I am a big fan of the stock paper, but Dave feel free to post the ping pong ball pic.

Never trust a "test" created by a manufacturer.

How do you know? Although reducing the spring pressure should make it richer. The flap opens with less air flow.
