Schooled a '85 Carrera
Today after leaving the Home Depot with supplies, a white Euro Carrera (higher compression and small bumperettes) blew by me and got on the ramp to I-476 the way i was going.
Well i couldn't take the turn for the ramp fast (light supplies in back) but I caught him on the highway. I touched 110. His window was down and it was the seasoned Porsche Salesman I am friendly with at Don Rosen's (been there since the 80's). I yelled I wasn't even trying!! (I just mentioned him in a post yesterday, "928s are built to last forever" Guy) This Euro Carrera was a gift from his Divorce Attorney who let it go to crap and gave it to him (owned him bad Divorce settlement) He is a very cool Guy and also owns 356C Sunroof Coupe in Silver. He likes 928s a lot too. Anyway we both downshifted from 5th to 4th and my 1983 US 928S immediately pulled away from him! I was very pleased with the car and surprised. Also glad we weren't pulled over

Awesome! People don't realize how fast our 30 year old car is. Got a thumbs up from a Honda S2000 guy coming home from work.

These short exciting moments make it all worth while. Our windows were down and the noises made by us both downshifting was an awesome 2 seconds!
Not many people on I-476 at 1:30pm so i didn't do anything too reckless. I was thinking at that speed downshifting, I seemed to have a huge advantage over the Carrera, aerodynamics? torque? both? not sure but I can't wait to see Eric at the Dealership.

Aerodynamics. The 928s, 951, and S2 have an advantage at triple digit speeds. Lower speeds are a different story though.

Many of the new cars have way much HP, so the 928 is not any competition, however on a road course a different story. 928 not a drag strip car but a road car!
