Door jam light

Does anyone know how to gain access to the bulb in this? Mine have never worked and I wanted to see if the bulbs were ok or not. I didn't know if there was a way i could just pull them out if i needed the door apart to access them, thanks guys.

You can get a fine screwdriver and pull it out, or remove the center panel where the pull handle is and access it there. Just pop the two plastic clips on the top and slide it aft.

It worked, and it's pretty obvious as to why they dont work, lol. They were completely rusted, so bad that i'm gonna have to cut them off and buy new ones.

Don't cut them off you should be able to pull the wires off the contacts and just plug in the new sockets.

I am planning on LED conversions so when the stupid door pin switches don't work at least the battery will drain more slowly.

Yes I had the pass side one looked just like that. I was able to pull the tab out and clean it up pretty good, but installing new terminal ends is no big deal also. Good luck with the LED conversion.

put a dab of silicone on the wires as they go into the rubber boot this should prevent water from running down the sheathing and filling the connector area

I would do what Mike suggested. Just wire up a single LED and RTV it. No more metal to rust and it's sealed. Done!

Did some google, saw nothing special I liked, but square LED with reflector can't be very rare, just need to find the right catalog etc. to look in.

This looks wild, but very rice, it projects the cars emblem on the ground when door is open. Look at the very bottom of listing to see what it does.

You can buy jumbo LED's at Radio Shack. You will need a resistor in series to drop the voltage for the LED. It's value will depend on the operating current and voltage of the LED.

..or just buy this one, no resistor needed, remove the nut, shove in hole, rtv the open hole, done.

I want stock or better, which means I want about the same size, reflector back, as well as low current LED.

I am wondering about difficulty fabricating something. Start with a fair sized reflector, dremel, file, whatever outline of a shark, glue/goop a good sized LED on the back. Other shapes optional except for mud flap girls.

lol, that would be interesting to have the emblem on the ground. I may end up rigging an LED into this like you guys have been talking about. I just wish there was an LED that fit the given socket. I can make i my own stuff though i guess...
