Climate Control Module Question
Has anyone ever taken one of these apart?
Assuming "dirty contacts" on the upper slider (DEF, VENT, FLOOR, A/C, HEAT) I have to jiggle it to get the a/c to stay on. A/C works awesome (ice cold)...I just have to play with the slider mechanism to get the A/C to stay on. Just wondering if anyone else ever took one of these modules apart? Easy job??? I'll take it apart next weekend, anyway. Just curious if anyone ever cleaned the contacts on the sliders Thanks, y'all

I have taken them apart all the time,
usually to replace the relay for the AC. link with pictures http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CEYQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.rennlist.com%2Frennforums% 2F928-forum%2F497585-ac-hvac-relay-replacement-with-pics.html&ei=G4ArUs_LLvHUyQGH34GYBA&usg=AFQjCNHL0sQwinlkanjLLBLMugtYKW6Ehw&bvm=bv.51773540,d.aWc&cad=rja

Maybe your main AC switch is unplugged? You may need to clean the head unit wipers & tracks to get those to work right - but AC should work even without that. Alan

You're right...sorry...I failed to explain properly. Lower slider.....And yes, the A/C Button (on the RH Side) works perfect, but, the slider gets quirky. I have to jiggle the lower slider (in between positions) to get the a/c to "catch". I'll take it all apart, clean up all the contacts, and sliders, and I'll keep you guys posted after I have it all cleaned up. Probably not a big deal. Thanks for the reply! Chris

AC button should be on the left...
Point is that when that switch is on - you should get the AC clutch on regardless of the slider connections (except for the off position). It may be good to clean those sliders - but you must have another different problem to have the behaviour you describe - perhaps a loose connector (switch or head unit) or other issues. Alan
