More Grunt From 86.5
Hi All,
After not having a 928 for a while, or Porsche for that matter, I'm buying a ROW '86 S3. Is there anyway to up the HP to match the '87 S4's? Scott

Porkens chips, high flow exhaust, Porkens chips with S4 fuel reg and a few other mods.
Which Row 86, 16v or 32v (32v Row is a low compression smog motor). Take a look at Liftbars |

If its the Australian 32v in 86 those got a lower compression piston, 9.3 vs 10.1, but otherwise I think the motors are the same as the US 86 32v. Down a bit on HP, but I have heard they are good for torque.
Similar things could be done to them as to the US model, but some bits may need to be different. Before buying any parts I would double check that they work on your model. Motor ID would be M28/ 45 or 46, found on a flat spot at the top/front of the block below the hose going to the radiator. |

Scott I love the signature quote.
I don't know how close ROW exhaust systems are to US in 1986.5, but if similar, look at those mods first for quick, bolt-on HP gains. Welcome back, love some pics.

Would love to dyno my 928. Since I got it 2 years ago I've done PK chip, air pump delete, '87 FPR, torque rings, X-pipe. Those mods really woke up the car up - transformed it, really. There was also a noticeable improvement in driveability to be had from doing a major intake rebuild, blueprinting the injectors, and installing a new 02 sensor.
Getting additional HP would require punching out the block and/or installing a supercharger or turbo. That gets spendy fast - at that point I'd consider picking up an AMG Mercedes. Prices on used examples are through the floor.

Porken likes to dyno, and there should be pictures from every stage of mods around someplace by now. Car to car variation with same mods and "nothing substantially fubar" should be closer than the differences between dyno's.
Best advice, get the car running 100% in factory trim before making changes. |

Car is great condition, only has 124,000kms from new and runs sweet as pie but seems a tad underpowered compared to my last Euro 85 S. I'm a sure a few little bits and pieces like mentioned will give it back some of that oomph.
