How to replace fog light bulb on 1990 928?
I have a 1990 928 S4. The driver's side fog light is not working. I'm looking for suggestions on how to remove the fog light/secondary headlight assembly so I can replace the fog light bulb.
The owner's manual shows how to do this. Unfortunately, the bracket holding the fog light into the car is different than what is shown in the manual. On the assembly, there is a clear plastic trim piece and a black rubber trim piece (on opposite ends of the assembly). The bracket underneath the black rubber trim piece differs from that shown in the manual. The manual shows four screws underneath the trim piece and says to remove the upper and lower screws to remove the assembly. (The other two screws are for aiming.) The actual bracket is made of black steel. It has two screws (in the position of the aiming screws) and the other two screws are underneath the steel bracket. I can see them, but I cannot reach them with a screwdriver. How is this to be done? Last edited by DKWalser; 10-29-2013 at 07:24 PM.. Reason: For clarity. |

maybe not original lights been replaced by aftermarkets if that's the case youd have to look for brand on light and find that makers instruction. try andys auto sports where theres many to look through to identify what you might have.
are they bulbs a small twist socket or on a spade/wire. maybe take a pic and post here someone can have a look and see what your doing/needing

Thank you for your reply. While I could not clearly see the screw heads because they are covered by the bracket, a long bladed Phillips screwdriver reached them just fine. Once the two screws were removed, the fog lamp assembly came out just fine.
