Fuel tank

How do you know if you have the in tank pump or the in tank filter screen?

If you need pictures from the outside to tell i can provide them

Wires will run to the fuel outlet at the tank if you have the in tank pump.

The extra wires will still be even if you don't have an in-tank pump, but they will be taped off and not connected to anything.

Go ahead and post the picture just for grins. It might help somebody else down the road.

Should you swap from one type to the other, be aware that the hose size from the in tank pump is a different diameter to the internal filter only type.
(I got caught on this one, dumped the in tank pump, ordered an in tank filter, got it in, then had to wait another 2 weeks for the correct hose to arrive.)

Yes, the in-tank filter only fitting is half again larger than the in-tank pump fitting and consequently the hose is larger as well. I have replaced the in-tank pump on my '89 and I have replaced the in-tank pump on my GTS with just the filter and new hose. I really cannot tell any difference in performance without the in-tank pump on the GTS, and I have had no vapor lock issues whatever.
